They haven't changed since recruitment. Some houses may move up or down after homecoming.
Top: chi o, delta, pi phi, Adpi, kappa
Mid: theta, axo, DG, aphi, Gphi
Bottom: KD, sk, phi mu, zeta
Adpi and kappa in top are debatable but that's my opinion. Mid and bottom tier are pretty solid, and in that specific order.

I'm a junior and have seen some distinct changes in tiers in the past few years. A bunch of us were talking about this tonight (representing four different sororities) and here's what we've concluded, with four in the top and bottom tiers respectively and six houses occupying the middle tier:
Top - PiPhi, ChiO, Theta and TriDelt (though they are barely hanging on). Each has a strong identity and is made up of girls who pref them first more often than not. TriDelt needs to reach out to a bigger cross-section, however. Their insular approach of rushing from a relatively small number of St. Louis high schools is making them more cliquey and less interesting.
Upper middle: ADPi, AXO. Girls are really proud to be in these houses and they are both on the upswing.
Middle: Kappa, GPhi. Very different houses, each troubled in its own way but they generally put on a solid rush. Need to work on diversity.
Lower middle: APhi, KD. Each is just one good pledge class away from being solidly middle tier.
Bottom: Zeta, SK, Sigma, Phi Mu. But we agree that even a lower tier house on this campus would be solidly middle tier just about anywhere else.

And you, Ms Third year-are why people say Mizzou, OneMizzou, etc are going down the tubes! A 'strong' identity is what is doing most of these houses in..all st Louis girls, all out of state girls, all rebelling against being too girly girl, all being the brainy girls, THIS is why greek life is giving off a bad name. take the other houses that have athletic, smart and friendly girls..or beautiful, smart and ambitious girls, or a house that has smart, ambitious and cute girls..there are NO problems in ANY of these houses-do some come off having more smart...or pretty...or athletic girls-well WHO CARES. THERE ARE NO RANKS-NONE-on this campus..stop trying to sell that idea

I'm not exactly sure about the point of the above post, but I can tell you that I chose to be in a house with an identity rather than some sort of generic house. And I agree completely with Third Year. I think an identity is very different from a stereotype, however. A house with an identity stands for something. The house I am in, for example, won't take just anyone. We want friendly, outgoing girls who are committed to diversity. We talk about in chapter all the time. And my house also provides a structure and support system that encourages us to be and to do our best. Now, Senior might think that gives Greek life a bad name, but I don't agree.

There is no low middle, G phi moves up and A Phi & KD are both bottom and Zeta is solid rock bottom! SK equal to Phi Mu.

Nice try, Kappa. But there is no way you are ahead of Theta, and probably are not ahead of ADPi and AXO either. Theta is one of the most selective houses and its pledge class each year is made up of people who preffed them first. ADPi also has a strong following and is especially appealing to girls who are both academically inclined and leadership driven. And AXO has made astounding strides in the past few years and now is an extremely desirable house. Kappa is still struggling to figure out who they are. Do you k now even one person who preffed them first? I know I don't.

as a PROUD kappa myself, i can tell you a lot of the girls in my house went through recruitment in love with kappa and ultimately wanted to be there when it was all over so I'm continually confused where everyone gets the "nobody wants to be there" thing. Obviously not every girl preffed kappa first, just like not every tri delta wanted tri delt, not every chi o wanted chi o and not every pi phi wanted pi phi. Nobody gets everyone they want and of course we do have girls who originally preffed another house, as every house does. But I never understand where people get this idea in their heads that nobody in our house wanted to be there from the get go, because we've all discussed it many times and most of us did pref kappa first. SO, just because YOU personally don't know any kappas that preffed kappa first doesn't mean you know who all 92 members of my pledge class preffed first. you know one, maybe two of us. not all of us.

Not every PNM wants the so called "top tier" houses, which is a good thing. To each his/her own. Each PNM can make their choice based on the attitude of the girls in said houses, what is important/valuable to them, how each PNM can see themselves fitting into the house, and which house shares their interests. Some PNMs pref specific houses because that is where they are wanted/celebrated.

Your sorority house doesn't determine whether you are successful in life beyond college, or whether you are a "winner" or "loser"...each individual is in control of her own destiny. And crappy attitudes like that will guarantee that people like HA doesn't have the right people skills to get ahead in life. The real adult world is NOT a popularity contest.

Move KD up and APhi down. KD offers way more than APhi to this campus and they actually have some really decent looking members and APhi's new pledge class didn't live up to expectations and besides their grades are terrible and they don't have what it takes to be GPhi or Tri Delt. Just basically have achieved nothing .
