Houses aren't ashamed to add to new members! Total now resets after each bid day, so some chapters end up having room for handful more once the scale slides. TBH, most houses probably aren't coming right now though! Most ARE above total so they aren't allowed to! And those with a few spots probably filled them with friends of members quickly OR are just going to wait until spring when they have more spots. So instead of COBing lets say 5 girls this semester, they'll wait and COB a pledge class of 15 next semester once some women graduate or drop. I know it's hard to wait, but I have a hunch they'll be some open spots come spring. My advice would be to be open to ALL the houses, even if you didn't like one during formal! Informal is SO different!

We won't really know, will we, because COBing and spring rush are so mysterious. Most of the good houses don't do it and those that do keep it under wraps and just take friends of members. It really is discriminatory and it really leaves the Greek community open to criticism with good reason. If your house doesn't have any minority members, or just one or two, there's not much of a likelihood the process will be open to women of color, is it? I think the whole thing stinks and PanHel needs to start doing what it is paid to do: make rush an open and fair process.
