informal

by: Kappa

I'm being told that kappa has NEVER done informal..... When even houses like pi phi have done it. Is there any chance of them doing it, maybe even next semester??

It has been several years, but, yes, Kappa has done it. It wasn't all that long ago that Kappa didn't even make quota. They are a better house now, but would be more respected if their members didn't post half-truths in order to make them feel better about themselves. And, as an aside, everyone knows that when a sorority is more than 100 years old it is risky to say they have NEVER done something.

Look at last springs grades. Kappa took 20 spring pledges. That doesn't mean they will this year, but yes they have taken Sprimg pledges as recently as last spring.

kappa likes to act like they're the best house ever, and they especially lie to their babies... Telling them they win everything, never do informal, and that they've won things they haven't actually won.... Okay. Sick of kappa babies walking around spewing lies the older girls have told them. You won Greek week 4 years... Get over it

Exactly! I've got tons of friends in that house and I always ask them if their going to do informal, and they all get told no and that they've never done it! If the kappas are sneaky about it, then how do you go about it?

No, Kappa is not being sneaky. They're not allowed to COB and its a national rule. The 20 new members who were reported by their new academics chair are new GPAs added to the total house as girls who went inactive the semester before for various reasons reactivated. It is at the chapter's discretion who they want to report as a new member and obviously they chose to report new GPAs to Greek life as new members. The point is, they don't take new members and I know this for a fact. Down vote it all you want, I'm not lying to you. They just have a pretty lax, unique policy on girls going active and inactive. In the past Im pretty sure they just never reported these as new member GPAs like most houses but mustve done it that way this year.

So plz chill out because even though you think its a giant house of LiArS, they just aren't gonna bid ya in the spring, so don't go emailing them about COB, ur just gonna get shot down. end of story.

also, anyone who really believes a house that already stands there with over 300 girls at any given time actually COBed 20 people and got away with it, you're pretty dumb.

If they had 20 girls who went inactive in a semester and then had to be threatened in order to reactivate, then they have bigger problems than just being known as a house of liars and boasters. That's a sisterhood issue and I hope they are addressing it.

There's no national rule that Kappa can't cob. In fact, simply googling "kappa kappa gamma cob" will come up showing kappa chapters at other schools OPENLY having COB events. If it was a national rule them NO kappa chapter in the country could do it, but chapters at other schools definitely do - and considering the 20 new members last semester, the chapter here does too. They just do it on the DL because they swear they're a top house and that top houses don't COB. Reactivated members aren't new members unless they were never initiated. You can't just do whatever you want with no rules... PHA has rules. Good try though.

Except ONLY Kappa thinks it is a top house. And they keep trying to convince everyone else. To no avail.

Wow so cool that you know so much about MY house... here is the thing. If you're not a kappa, you shouldn't be commenting on what you think you KNOW about a house that isn't yours.

Some kappa chapters have the OK from nationals to do it if they aren't strong and are WELL BELOW the average house total for reasons other than graduations. As an ACTUAL member of the house, this is honestly one of the biggest pet peeves we have is girls actually being angry we don't cob and emailing us constructively aggressive emails saying they KNOW we cob and that we aren't giving them the chance. WE DONT. Its even been addressed in chapter to tell anyone who asks that we simply aren't allowed, because we aren't. Our nationals has not given us the okay in many years to have a spring pledge class since we don't need one. doesn't mean we think were better than everyone else, we just simply can't recruit in the spring without a national OK and since our house total is not below the average, we don't COB.

I can tell you right now as a member of the fall 2014 pledge class, i never once met a spring pledge and we only had one girl in our pledge class of 92 drop. I have never seen a girl that i didn't recognize from the fall. What the other girl posted about girls going active and inactive sounded legit. we had about 10 or so girls studying abroad first semester who went inactive to save money and others for extracurriculars on campus they wanted to make more time for.

and like the other poster said, if we did COB, don't you think 20 members is a bit aggressive for a house that already has a pretty high total... and if zeta didn't report any of their cobs, thats a pretty good indication its up to the house who they want to report as a new member and who they don't.

Also, just something else to point out to prove its at the chapters discretion how/who they want to report their new members as, the statistics you are looking at state that Zeta, sigma kappa and Gphi didn't COB last spring, which Im sure you pitbulls all know they did and love to talk about.

So just keep that in mind when you instantly believe all these statistics.

Sigma kappa didn't cob last year because they were well above total as the biggest house on campus

KKG lies about everything. They were a good house back in like 1982 and continue to try to restore their formal glory. Great girls cut them the first day!

I don't think Kappa is a BAD house, it's just not as good as they insist they are and is far from top tier. They have an excellent national and strong alum network, but the girls they choose are just meh. I think it's because the better girls get into top houses and Kappa is left with the wannabes. They were among my top 5 or 6 houses, but when I had to decide where to go on the last day Kappa wasn't in the mix because they really don't have an identity the way my top three did (PiPhi, ChiO, ADPi). My impression is that the girls are a lot like the actual house: not very fun-loving with a giant poker up their posterior. Sorry for being crude.

Right right I forgot, that's an uncommon thing to people like you on this website. EVERY post is supposed to be voicing how crappy you think a certain house is even if the original post has nothing to do with that really and how amazing your pref day options were over everyone else's lol. My bad.

Ps, this post is about kappa doing or not doing informal rush. If you're looking for the "reasons why I don't like kappa and think they suck" post it's a few pages down. But no worries its there. Just make sure you're being relevant and not sounding like you actually got cut from them and are bitterly voicing your sour opinion like you sound right now.
