i was cut but still want to join a sorority.
by: Not giving up!I was cut before preference day. I understand this was a competitive rush, however I would still like to try to join a sorority if at all possible. Is informal recruitement different than COB? Can you suggest the next step for someone who was cut but would still like to try to join? Does this generally happen in the fall or next spring? Thank you.

Email the PHA advisor in the Greek Life office and let him know you would like your name given to chapters who might participate in COB this year.
In the meanwhile, make as many friends as you can with sorority women- in your dorm, in classes, in other activities, etc. If you made a real connection with any actives during rush, stay in touch with them this year too.

Keep trying and don't be discouraged.I could not agree more, grades should not be the end all. I am in a top house but two years ago grades did not place such a significant role. It seems like legacies and Grades areally got advantages this year. Also keep options open. Now that I am a senior I can honestly say Greek life is not all that it is cracked up to be. By the time you are a junior, you've kind of outgrown moved on. There are plenty of other ways to have a great experience at mizzou.

By junior year, YOU may have outgrown it and by senior year a lot of other do, but freshman and sophomore year, how important were your sisters and your friendships? I am a senior now, and no - I don't attend EVERYTHING anymore, but my best friends are my sisters, my roommates are my sisters, and I can't imagine not remaining life-long friends with a large group of these fantastic women. Sorry, if you have not had the same experience. wrong house? wrong choice?

I am assuming I was cut because of grades. I was just shy of a 3.0. I plan to do well this semester and hope for a 2nd chance. I don't want to be in a sorority because of popularity, I truly want the sisterhood that comes with it. Even though my grades were a little low I did a TON of volunteer work and find it so discouraging that women who had no volunteer hours were taken over someone like me who puts her heart into volunteering. I am not trying to pick on others, but I just feel that so many important attributes were overlooked. Obviously just my personal opinion, but I am just devestated over how things have transpired... A deciding factor for me to attend Mizzou was the hope of being part of Greek Life. I am from out of state with no tuition breaks and had no idea it would be this hard to be accepted into a sorority. I feel a little foolish for being so naive. Thank you for the enouragement, I still can't figure out if and when COB begins so not sure if this semseter will even count.....
