repost: good to read about "top tier" houses

C'mon. silly to even suggest anything. Tri Delt had their worst recruitment ever-they cut early and thus got cut early.
Too many strong independent girls coming in. They are smart. They are Beautiful and they get things done. This is the first year every house made quota and the first year that 'top' houses didn't get their choice. Many, many girls who you thought ranked 'your' top houses went to others. This ancient rank of tri delt, chi o(and actually they haven't even ben in the race for 2 years) opened up their amazing pool to adpi, gphi piphi and kkg. Judge all you want-but that is the absolute truth. Hopefully no house is still feeling threatned after this tough recruitment

It's a great thing that all chapters are getting great girls and recruiting really well. This is exactly why some houses have to make much larger cuts at the beginning of the week, so that the PNMs who ultimately wouldn't get a bid there can look at other options early. It's basically sharing the wealth.
Say every girl who goes to chapter ABC on skit day would rank them first on pref day, but ABC can only take 90 girls. PHA isn't going to have ABC invite 1000 girls to skit day. They would rather these girls not be invited back to ABC early on, so that they keep going to XYZ and 123.

I agree! Time to put the current ranks to rest. Depending on your 'top' tier..be it socal, academic or all greek-it's all changed. There seem to be some new-as I gag saying it-Beautiful but smart totally driven houses in the fore front. Pi Phi, Gamma Phi and Kappa blew it out of the park this year. Early releases might hav inflated this-but truth be told-the usuals DID NOT finish on top,as expected. We've all seen it coming with most 'top' houses. Whether your claim to fame was grades, look, etc-sorry but Tri Delt and Chi O are DEFINITELY out of the picture. They cut too early and thus got cut by others that weren't interested--this year has definitely been a game changer!

Chi O and Tridelt had record breaking return rates this year...not sure where you got your facts!

The truth is that so many amazing women went through recruitment there were plenty of great women to go around! That's the beauty of the Greek system here. Everyone wants to be Greek and it brings the fabulous girls to our recruitment! No house loses with girls like that to choose from. Congrats to all the new members and their houses!

all women have worth, all houses have worth. no house is above another. we have an incredible greek system here. lets stop talking about tiers and work toward every single house on campus being strong and at house total

to and: actually, i would say some houses are above others. there are ultimately houses that have more power, whether it be socially, monetary, or their alumnae....

I wouldn't. I would say they all have DIFFERENT strengths. That doesn't make one better than the other. If DG has the most money, Kappa has the strongest alumnae, Phi Mu dominates the SEC...like how does that make some above others? it means they all excel at SOMETHING. Also, you can't pit 300 women against another set of 300 women. There are obviously fabulous women in "bottom tier" chapters who run their chapters and the campus and based on what your saying have more power, popularity, money, grades etc. than some women in "top tier" houses. People aren't better than other people--they're just different.

So yes, some strong houses made huge cuts early. But it's because they had to. And it ultimately benefitted everyone.
