increase recruitment fee?
by: GreekI wonder what would happen if the recruitment fee was increased to say $1,000 per person going through. If you drop, you get nothing back. But if you stick through up to before initiation day, you get back say $300. And if you initiate, the $1,000 minus recruitment fee goes back to you in the form of a credit to use for dues etc. If you are released, then you get back however the amount is minus whatever it costs to register for recruitment. Do you think this will help with all the drops and allow for just the serious PNM willing to give everyone a chance and take a bid from whichever group offers?

the poster said you would get everything back minus the original recruitment fee. you end up paying more than $1,000 anyways, so if you can't afford greek life then you should not be going through. it saves both you and the sorority money issues down the road. i think this would separate the serious PNM willing to stick through and accept any house that they get versus the people that drop because of top tier crap. however, paying $1,000 up front is the only issue i see for those that work to pay their own way.

I mean, women can drop out and they always do. Chapters still match to quota without them! Good lord if all 1890 PNMS stuck in the process pledge classes would be like 120. It's unfortunate women drop out because they're close-minded, but a LOT of awesome greek members never had any intention of going greek! I know I didn't! I was from out-of-state and only went through rush because my mom thought it would be good for me! I NEVER would have paid 1,000 to do something that I thought I might not join. The act of trying it out and seeing if it's for you attracts WAY more quality women than it dejects. I ended up joining, loving it, being a leader in my chapter and panhellenic. If you told me I had to pay upfront and wouldn't get any of it back if I dropped out I honestly wouldn't have taken the risk of going through because I didn't know what to expect! I ended up being perfect for greek life, but I wouldn't have known that unless I went through recruitment. Women should be allowed to drop! NEWSFLASH the "bottom" chapters women drop out of because of didn't want them anyways! No chapter wants women who think they're better than them, or don't have enough integrity to see past false stereotypes. People project what they want onto "bottom" chapters. If you're not strong enough to get past a stigma than your not strong enough to be a greek member.
