asking about bid list
by: ?how do sororities decide the order of the bid list? as i have read, everyone who goes on pref day gets a bid but obviously the list cuts off at a certain point. how do the sororities go about making the list to have the girls they really want in it or how do they decide?

Every house has a list with all of the girls who went to pref ranked in point order. Every house does membership selection differently, so they may all look for different things. I would guess things like grades, leadership, activities, conversations, etc, are pretty normal things to give PNM's points on both before and during recruitment.
Let's say quota is 5 (for an easy example) for house ABC. PNM's are in point order:
PNM 1 - ranked ABC first, matches and gets a bid to ABC
PNM 2 - ranked ABC first, matches and gets a bid to ABC
PNM 3 - did not rank ABC first, matches to another house
PNM 4 - did not rank ABC first, matches to another house
PNM 5 - ranked ABC first, matches and gets a bid to ABC
QUOTA
PNM 6 - ranked ABC first, moves up, matches and gets a bid to ABC
PNM 7 - ranked ABC first, moves up, matches and gets a bid to ABC
QUOTA FILLED
PNM 3 - ranked ABC first, but ABC is full at quota, so she matches to another house
Since 3 and 4 did not rank ABC first, PNM 6 and 7 move up to take the spots. PNM 8 didn't match to ABC because quota was filled by the time they got to her on the list. Get it? It is super complicated...so just try to relax and not stress on this. It is out of your hands at this point!!!

You cannot worry about the order you're in tonight. It's done. It's also something that only a small handful of girls in the chapter will actually know as usually the president & rush chair order the bid list based on chapter membership selection results.
The only thing that is consistent across almost every chapter is that legacies go to the top of the 1st bid list. So if you ranked your legacy #1, you'll be there on bid day.

Maybe it's just other schools-but what some have said is they will go through each girl and if anyone has an issue with them it's discussed. Honestly sounds extremely petty and juvenile-but do they really put each PNM before a group? Knowing there are so many from certain areas of Missouri-seems like a lot of catty info would come up. Hope it's more solid than that! Assuming it is?

I think not everyone knows what we are talking about...but to those that got defensive- you do. yes, some people in certain larger cities of MO get it-but clearly what we refer to as 'petty' will DEFINITELY NOT bring a house down. That is what 'petty' means. Or 'juvenile'. We are not talking ground breaking-just that high school stuff that some like to continue. This is why the St Louis schools and greek life get a bad rap-time to let it go.

OOPS...last line should say:
PNM 8 - ranked ABC first, but ABC is full at quota, so she matches to another house
