cut

Is it actually possible to get cut tomorrow morning? Does it happen a lot?

You cannot get cut if you maximized your options today. If you wrote down every house that you went to pref on your bid card, then you will get one of those houses.

If you went to three, and only wrote down one or two, then you did not maximize your options and there is a chance that you won't get into a house.

??? Do you not have Pi chis? Were they unable to answer this ? Please let Panhellenic know--because they should all be educated enough to explain this to you so you don't default to a website where half the answers are legit the complete opposite of the truth!!

Don't know why, but some people would rather ask something on a gossip site than get the real story. They like drama more than straight information.

Apparently! It jus makes me so sad! There's no Pi chis are encouraging women to not maximize! And then women are genuinely posting concerned because they only listed one choice and want to know if that hurt them. Of course it did! This happens EVERY flipping year and its devastating because if they listed ALL the options they'd be finding a home instead of a Pi chis outside their door tomorrow morning.

There is someone on this site who keeps carping about "maximizing your options." while what she is saying is generally true, she is performing a huge disservice to the handful of women who ranked all of the houses they went to on pref day and still wind up without a bid. It happens. Let's not pretend it doesn't. There are NO guarantees. Unless you know what goes on behind closed doors as bid lists are being prepared you can't possibly guarantee that everyone who lists all of their choices gets a bid. A late rec. An alum who knows the family. An active who finally speaks up, in private, to the recruitment chair. Any and all of these things can happen. So let's not mislead anyone. I hope everything works out for the best, but I don't want people to think it can't happen.

You're wrong! It DOESNT happen! I'm sorry but it's clear you've never served on your chapters MSB. The way the online program works all of the women are listed who attended your parties. You can't simply delete one. You MUST put her on a list somewhere otherwise you physically would t be able to submit your bid list. Any cuts HAD to have been made before preference round. That's why so many chapters make their bid lists the night before preference. Because no more cuts will be
Made. If an alumna decides to wait until the last day to say something (not that she can just call in) she's SOL. Panhellenic and Greek life would NEVER let a chapter do that to a woman. You can't delete a woman form an online system run by Panhellenic. It's hysterical that you think they can. Surprise! Most pnms are not secret serial killers who got outed the night before bid day! Therefore Panhellenic is not letting them be chucked off a list. "Let's not pretend it doesn't happen." I mean--I'm not. I just actually understand because I've served on MSB, have submitted a bid list and was trained on RFM.

That's not how it works. You clearly have no idea how maximizing options works in RFM. If a PNM puts all the sororities she attended a preference party for on her bid card, she is guaranteed to get a bid from one of them, even if she ends up being a quota addition because all of them reach quota before they get to her on their bid list. Under RFM, sororities must place ALL PNMs who attended their preference parties on their bid list.

That is a ridiculous example. You're telling us that in the final hours if you somehow find out that a girl's parent has a criminal record, regardless of the fact that your chapter has loved her as a person all along, you would take the steps to drop her. You would drop her for something over which she had no control and is an innocent victim. I am glad I'm not in your house. Besides the fact that that scenario has such a remote possibility of ever happening it is a ridiculous reason to drop someone.

What you are talking about (an urgent and late developing reason to leave a pnm who was invited to pref off the bid list) happens maybe a dozen times per year across the entire country. It requires Panhellenic approval as well as the sorority's national office approval for a RFM campus chapter to release the pnm.

The only instances I have heard of are pnm's showing up drunk or high to pref. In all my years advising a Mizzou chapter, I have not once heard of this situation occuring on our campus.

no, I did not. The other two sororities I knew I wasn't a good fit for. I knew I should have maximized my options, but I knew those two sororities weren't for me

@me - You were released because you had 3 houses, and only listed 1. They filled quota before they got to your name. I am really sorry. You can look into COB, but there is no guarantee which houses will be going through COB.

I was devastated on BId Day when I got my second choice, but I sucked it up and went. Best thing ever...I am so happy. I wish that you would have felt like you could have listed all three.

Me and Little
So sorry you were dropped this morning. Hopefully you feel that you made the right decision for you. Try to find other ways to join in and look into cob if there are any houses cob'ing. This is the first year since 2011 that every house made quota at 83, so those chances may be slim. Best of luck to you and don't let this experience color your first semester at mizzou. It's got everything!
