alpha phi

I have a lot of good friends in aphi! They were also on my top 5 all week when I rushed.
Non-biased opinion: they are a decent house. They have a very popular philanthrophy and are regarded as a middle tier house because they are nice, cute, and outgoing. Everyone seems to like them. They do have a lot of members that like to go out, but they also have a good mix of girls and you will find other girls who are into other things. They don't have any mandatory events, such as chapter, homecoming hours or study hours, which I think hurts their sisterhood. Their thought is that if you're a sister of aphi, you should want to do things with your sisters willingly, and so they don't make things mandatory. However, it has hurt their grades and involvement overall because there are girls who rather go out and not explore what else
Their sorority offers.
Bottom line:
You will find your best friends in ANY house with similar interests because there's 300+ girls in each house. Don't worry about that.

Also, you can always drop later. Give it a chance, if you don't like it you don't have to stay. You have nothing to lose!! Many many girls would be lucky to be in your position right now!

If you made it all the way to preference round and still find yourself thinking about other sororities and you'd only wanna join because they're your "only option left, don't join. So many girls would kill to be in your spot right now so if your hearts not in it don't take that spot away from another girl who would do anything to be there

I'm sorry you got cut by your top choice today but you still have an awesome house left! Honestly, even if some houses have a reputation for being a certain way, not even half of the 300+ girls in the chapter fit that stereotype, whether it's for partying or being awkward or being Stepford wife material. With 300 girls and a pledge class of around 80-100 you're bound to find besties in any chapter.

You need to think long and hard tonight about whether you would rather not be Greek at all than join Alpha Phi. Rushing again as a sophomore isn't easy and all the rumors about snap bids and cob aren't true and/or only apply to a handful of chapters with a handful of openings. They aren't realistic options.

Look around when you line up at Alpha Phi tonight- the girls in line with you could be your pledge sisters tomorrow. Be open to falling in love (or even just "in like") with the chapter tonight. They have cut a ton of girls this week and see you as sisterhood material. Pref is often a "game changer" for PNM's and they leave feeling differently about houses than they have all week.

Being in a sorority is what YOU make of it. As my mom always says "if you want to make a friend, be a friend". I hope you decide to sign your pref card tonight. You will get out of it what you put in, so get involved! No mandatory study hours- ask some pledge sisters to study with you! No mandatory Greek events, round up as many Alpha Phi's as you can and go together!
