what now? didn't get a house :(

by:

My grades weren't the best in high school, but I challenged myself by always taking honors and AP courses instead of regular classes. My ACT is ok. I have always been friendly, funny, and told I'm attractive. I am so upset - I didn't even make it to pref day. I was cut by every sorority. I know being Greek is important here and I really want the experience. What can I do now? #Devistated

Make this semester a good one by getting good grades and getting involved and you can COB for most houses second semester! Take this opportunity and make the most of it

Yes, do your best grade wise, BUT makes good friends with girls in houses! Or ones you know from high school. That's the only way to get COB!!

Out of curiosity, were you cut from all "top tier" houses? It would seem that could happen because more girls want them.

Not to be rude but your grades can't be that good if you can't even spell "devastated."

What Now,
So sorry that you were released. :-( Most grade cuts happen in the first two rounds, so if you made it through those perhaps there was another reason, or just that you weren't high enough on their lists. Those comments about making friends in houses and making yourself available to COB (if it happens) this fall and spring. You can go through recruitment again next fall too. Getting good grades and getting involved in other campus activities is excellent advice. DO THAT and there may still be a greek home in your future. But either way, meet others and make friends. Mizzou is huge and there is so much to do, make your own best way and enjoy the college experience. Greek life isn't all there is.

Being Greek is not the only way to go through college. You can still make good friends, and lasting friends, in the dorm and through your major and other clubs and organizations. Now that you know more about rush you might do better next year if you improve your grades, but the majority of women on this campus are happily not Greek. So keep your options open and adopt a new attitude. Life does not always turn out the way we expect, but it can be even MORE rewarding that if we just follow our preconceived ideas.
