when would i be released?

by:

I visited three houses today. I knew I was going to get released from almost all of them initially because of my grades. Do I stand a chance on getting the one I want now? Like have they already considered my grades? I heard the biggest cuts already happened...

If they were going to cut you for grades they probably would've done it by now. They wouldn't keep you around and take up a spot if they knew they were eventfully going to cut you

You are safe to not be cut solely on grades but they may still be considered tonight when big cuts are made. Every house has to carefully decide who is invited back to pref round because those girls end up somewhere on the bid list. The houses had 10 socials today and it's down to 5 tomorrow so not everyone will be able to be asked back.

So, all girls who are asked back to pref round will get a bid?

Keep going. Big cuts have already happened. wouldn't you rather know if you get a house rather than wondering what if I had kept going?

Here's hoping you make it to pref's tomorrow! Remember it only takes one! Keep your heart open and your ears shut. Only your opinion matters!!! :-)

Approx how many girls were at each house for todays visits. What percentage of those will be cut tonight?

Grade cuts are the first cuts that all the houses make. If you still have a house on Wednesday, you won't be cut for grades by any of the remaining houses :)

My house cut for grades on Thursday night... It depends on how many girls they get back and their GPAs.

That's very weird. Every house I know cuts girls for grades before Wednesday and doesn't look at them again unless they have to decide between two girls during another cut.

While strict grade cuts likely have been, when houses rank the girls who attended their parties on the last day grades are a factor (among other things). So your grades could still hurt you. But, having said that, don't quit. If you want to be in a sorority just keep going. What have you got to lose?

Some houses cut for grades later in the week on hopes that they can keep more "cute" members on their sidewalk throughout the week and make themselves look more desirable. I'm not making this up. I won't name which houses do this but there are multiple houses.

I don't know if the above ^^^^ is true, but I do know that some houses don't weigh grades until they are making out their final pref list and then grades are one of the ranking factors. No house wants to take someone who won't make grades or who will bring the house's collective gpa down. But for some houses having a larger pool to choose from is desirable and so they don't make early grade cuts.

My house specifically keeps all girls above a 3.0 until the last few days and then when the cuts between sisterhood and pref day start we compare GPAs as a way to cut girls.

If you maximize your choices, meaning list all three houses you pref'd, then you will receive a bid to one of them.

Let's be honest. It is the top houses that make grade cuts right away because they get their pick of PNMs and they have more than enough girls interested in their house even if they make strict grade cuts early. It is the low-middle and bottom tier houses that first and foremost want to make quota, so they keep girls around longer even if their grades aren't very desirable. Then on the last two days the lower-tier houses have more to choose from. But, really, that isn't really much of a negative for a lot of PNMs because they aren't necessarily looking for houses with strict academic standards. When people on this site say houses like ChiO, PiPhi, Theta, ADPi and, to a certain extent TriDelt get girls with the "whole package," it means that they can afford to make grade cuts early because their pool of interested girls still remains extremely large. The reason I set TriDelt apart is that their grades have been slipping lately, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that this year their alums are being stricter about that and they are seeking to get smarter and more diverse girls, not just those from certain St. Louis schools.
