when would i be released?
by: curiousI visited three houses today. I knew I was going to get released from almost all of them initially because of my grades. Do I stand a chance on getting the one I want now? Like have they already considered my grades? I heard the biggest cuts already happened...

You are safe to not be cut solely on grades but they may still be considered tonight when big cuts are made. Every house has to carefully decide who is invited back to pref round because those girls end up somewhere on the bid list. The houses had 10 socials today and it's down to 5 tomorrow so not everyone will be able to be asked back.

While strict grade cuts likely have been, when houses rank the girls who attended their parties on the last day grades are a factor (among other things). So your grades could still hurt you. But, having said that, don't quit. If you want to be in a sorority just keep going. What have you got to lose?

Let's be honest. It is the top houses that make grade cuts right away because they get their pick of PNMs and they have more than enough girls interested in their house even if they make strict grade cuts early. It is the low-middle and bottom tier houses that first and foremost want to make quota, so they keep girls around longer even if their grades aren't very desirable. Then on the last two days the lower-tier houses have more to choose from. But, really, that isn't really much of a negative for a lot of PNMs because they aren't necessarily looking for houses with strict academic standards. When people on this site say houses like ChiO, PiPhi, Theta, ADPi and, to a certain extent TriDelt get girls with the "whole package," it means that they can afford to make grade cuts early because their pool of interested girls still remains extremely large. The reason I set TriDelt apart is that their grades have been slipping lately, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that this year their alums are being stricter about that and they are seeking to get smarter and more diverse girls, not just those from certain St. Louis schools.
