zeta house
by: ConfusedSo Zeta is rebuilding their house, and saying the new house is "coming 2017". Does that mean that both DG and ZTA's pledge classes this year won't get to live in? That sucks...

I think it's nice many chapters are rebuilding their houses, and making Greek town more modern. Although they're newer to Mizzou I think Sigma Kappa needs a complete new house. They can't fit about 75 girls in that house but they are Mizzou's largest chapter. They need to accommodate their growth, I kind of like how their house is different and if they do ever rebuild they should keep the shape in some respect. Kappa Delta, Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Phi and Kappa Alpha Theta could use some new houses. I know all done work to renevate, but they need to be revitalized for a new and fresh look

As an incoming freshman, why would I pledge DG or Zeta if I was never able to live in the house (but would end up getting hit up for donations for years to come!) Living in the house seems like a big part of sorority life. Will they (DG & Zeta) honestly answer the many questions people have about this topic during Recruitment? Otherwise, I feel like it's a bait and switch!

As a future architect I am amused at how misinformed y'all are about the houses in Greektown. There are four that are the most architecturally significant, and the oldest: AXO. Kappa, ADPi and, best of all, PiPhi. All qualify (and some are on) the National Register of Historic Places. A house with such a designation cannot be torn down. The least architecturally impressive, dating to the late '60s, are Theta and Gamma Phi. They are pretty houses, but have no architectural integrity. I also would put DG. TriDelt and Alpha Phi in that category, as well as the old ChiO house before it was razed. The SK and KD houses actually at one time were outstanding examples of Mid Century Modern, until they became "remuddled" when those houses determined it would be better for them to have a traditional instead of modernist look. ChiO, of course, is an expensive architectural abomination, but it is new and clean and its members seem to love it.

I'm sad DG is tearing down... its such an old and beautiful house. Also, they have such a small plot of land, Im afraid a bigger house will feel cramped and squeezed between chio and aphi.
Speaking of aphi, I know that their house dates back to the 20s.... so again, it would be sad to tear it down, but it does need some modernizing. I hope they go the ADPI route and add on rather than the chio route of tearing down a historic house for a new modern house.
No word on what zetas will look like, but as their house isn't that historic, I think it will be fine and probably better than what they currently have.
Lots of changes coming!

Alabama has already rebuilt half of their houses. A new Zeta house is being built there this year. I just looked it up and they had a picture of what it will like. Wow.
