dg = no house + big bills for new pledges

by: CURIOUS

So what is the deal, for real?? I want to join a sorority in which I can live in a sorority HOUSE. That's a huge part of the experience. If they are tearing down the DG house, and as a Freshman, I'll never live in a true DG house but will be expected to foot the bill for it, I want to know NOW before I get myself into a horrible, expensive situation.

PNM's please watch out....DG is going to try to brush off and act like they aren't sure when their new house is getting built but it definitely is next year. They are trying to save their rush this year at the expense of you. So be careful please!

Had house tour day at DG and as a PNM I can say they've been very honest with us. I applaud them because I didn't know what to expect or if they would tell us anything but one room in the house was dedicated to talking about plans for the new house. And it looks absolutely beautiful. Same basic structure as the one now. Just much bigger

I love the look of DGs house. I can't imagine this is true. are you sure they aren't just remodeling the inside over the summer??

They're pulling a XO and getting an entirely new house. The only difference is there isn't a vacant place that DG can use as a temporary house like XO got to when their house was rebuilt, mostly because SK and ATO are back on campus.

So no, DG pledges will never live in house.

The Phi Psi boys still live there, they just had their charter pulled.

ChiO was strategic and their members lived in the beautiful house that is now once again, ATO. DG has NO WHERE TO GO - maybe some ramshackle houses on East Campus or the Hampton Inn. Living in a sorority house is truly the best part of membership. Maybe all 300 girls can cram into their scary annex.

you seem very threatened to me.. next time leave the name of your house too so we can see which sisterhood cares more about scaring off PNM's on greekrank from other houses than proving their own during recruitment.

I truly think DG is the least of anyone's worries. No one is "threatened" by DG.

one of the most important experiences about being in a sorority is getting to live in house with your pledge sisters and you already only get 1 year to do that, maybe 2 if you're on exec, but it is not something I would brush off just to be in DG. Living in house was one of my favorite experiences and plus it's cheaper usually than the dorms.

I totally agree with "poor girls" comment. The year I spent living in the sorority house was wonderful. That's how I truly grew to know everyone and developed such strong bonds. My little sister is going through recruitment and she & many in her Pi Chi group liked DG OK, but dropped them before 7 party day because they want the true sorority experience. I'm sorry, but leasing a bunch of floors in Brookside at $1,000/month per person is not exactly a sorority house.

Don't you need a house in Greek Town to rush? Isn't that a bylaw or something? How is DG going to rush next year if they don't even have a house to hold recruitment in? Are they going to be in one of the campus buildings ike SK was when they colonized? This is such a bad plan.
