no drama
by: yuppI have a 3.9 (unweighted, 4.3 weighted) with mostly AP classes my senior year, was editor of the high school newspaper, on prom court and was president of my junior class. I've been told I'm attractive and I am a legacy to four houses: ADPi, Theta, Kappa and ChiO, I hope rush works out for me but, of course, I know there are no guarantees. At this point I am aiming for a low-key sort of house without much drama. I will need to keep my grades up to keep my full scholarship and I really am not uber-competitive or the kind of person who gets involved in catfights. I like to keep things on an even keel. From what I have heard ADPi, AXO and PiPhi have a lot of low-maintenance girls and I might fit in there. What advice do y'all have for me?

You sound like the type of person who will do well. You will want to choose the house where you feel most comfortable, and your instincts will tell you that. I would just stay away from TriDelt, GPhi and Aphi (boy crazy airheads), Kappa (not very confident girls, they always seem like they have something to prove), and perhaps some of the lower tier houses where you won't get as much support for academics. But you probably could find a niche in any house.

In order to get the academic support you seek, you will want a house that is in the top half for grades each semester. You can find that at Mizzou Greek Life under statistics. But some of those houses have girls who are extremely intense, like Theta and perhaps ChiO. You probably can compete with the best of them, but if you want things a bit more laid back, PiPhi and AXO probably would qualify. My roommate freshman year was an ADPi and she and some of her friends were smart and chill, so at least in my experience I think they would qualify, too. Just go through and see what you think, because many of the houses have extremely high standards and well-rounded girls.

Most houses only consider sisters, moms, and grandmothers (though some don't) for legacies. So cousins and aunts don't count. You definitely could be a true legacy to 4 houses but its uncommon and I don't know if you're counting aunts and cousins. I would check to make sure you're a true legacy, and keep in mind that MANY legacies get cut at mizzou because so many girls go through

You sound like you're not even in a mizzou sorority. The student body vice president is a tri delt. ??? Seriously do you even know what you are talking about? "Tier" has nothing to do with grades. And kappa has some of the highest grades too. I know great, smart girls in aphi, gphi, and tri delt who are all in the honors college.
OP my advice to you is to just go through rush and see how you feel in each house! There are around 100 girls in each pledge class, so it's hard to really say that there is a house of 400 girls that doesn't have any drama. Recruitment is a competitive week. Trust the system. By the end, you will be down to a maximum of just three houses, and your choice will be much easier from there. This is a mutual selection process. You get to pick us, but we also get to pick you, so the system will work it's way out. You will eventually end up in the right house, just trust the system.
