lilly and backless dress for rush?

by: PNM

I have a super cute navy dress that I want to wear if I make it to pref night but it is like a high necklined halter and has no back. It still looks classy but I was wondering if that would be frowned upon during Rush? Also I have a Lilly dress that I would love to wear for the sisterhood when we wear sundresses but I was wondering if that was a thing at Mizzou? Like I had a friend at a different school get judged by the other girls for trying to hard and looking stupid? Just wondering if that was the case here.

Both sounds cute! I think these are great ideas! I think most people when they say something nice or classy for pref day is referring to cleavage. That's what I think most houses want to see covered up, your back should be fine :)

Lilly does look try-hard. Not many girls really wear it for recruitment and if they do they just wear shorts. This isn't the south. Even in the south at Bama and Ole Miss girls don't wear Lilly during recruitment because it just looks like you're trying too hard...

Obvi you can't afford lilly.

Girl, if you have it, flaunt it :) #resort365

(Enjoy your Lilly dress that is made in China probably alongside GAP and Old Navy in the sweatshops)

I'm in a top house and if you wore Lilly twice, yes, we would think you are trying too hard and in cut sessions we probably would just refer to you as "Lilly." And not in a good way. Lots of people going through rush have money. We are more interested in women with taste. Oh, and if you really had "class" you would never use that word.

Okay, you need to tone it down a notch. The girl is just stressing about recruitment just like we all did and wants to know what would be best. If your house makes cuts based on her appearance, then she can do better than ya'll anyways. Wear what you want, PNM. :)

So I'm from the South and whoever said people don't wear Lilly for rush has no idea what the South is like. If you want to wear Lilly, wear Lilly. Express yourself how you want to. Rush is about finding where you belong and people you want to surround yourself with. I would hope that you wouldn't want to surround yourself with people that dislike you because of what you like to wear. Wear it if that's what you feel good in. You won't get cut from a house for wearing Lilly, you might even find someone with a common interest.

Then go through rush in the South. This is Missouri. It straddled the Mason-Dixon line.

Wearing lilly is fine. Wearing lilly every single day isn't. It's fine to wear a lilly dress for sundress as long as you're not wearing it the other days (maybe one pair of shorts would be okay). Basically they don't want you to seem like you're wearing it to seem rich or trying to be like "look im such a sorority girl" but if you already have the dress, like it, and feel confident in it theres no problem with wearing it.
If you wear 4 pairs of lilly shorts and a lilly dress, kendras, tory burch sandals, and discuss nothing but your obsession with mason jars and your lilly planner people will think you're trying really hard to seem southern. Everything in moderation!

Maybe it's time to retire this dress. You do realize, don't you, that anyone who shows up in a navy Lilly halter dress will be the victim of ridicule. Considering how stupid this thread is, wearing that dress would be my LAST choice at this point.

She literally asked if she could wear ONE Lilly dress ONCE. Where did shorts come from? Where did wearing Lilly every single day come from? omg

Because she was worried people would think she's trying too hard, so people were explaining what trying to hard actually looks like. Nobody accused her of trying to wear lilly every day. Can YOU read?

Okay idk what everyone is pitching a fit over.. How would you even know what a certain girl wears each day unless you were the awkward girl who got put on the stairs that isn't allowed to talk to pnms? Even then, you wouldn't have a say in the voting process. What are you going to do, track down the sister and say "omg she wore Lilly the past three days, cut her!"
There are way too many girls to keep track of. We aren't concerned so much with what you're wearing because frankly we want to see your character and smile! At least with my house, we are paired with a different girl each day. It would be impossible and exhausting to track a particular girl through every round the entire rush week.
PNM I'm personally a huge fan of Lilly P and in my house, girls find it to be a very classy staple. You're going to look great and do fine in recruitment. Don't stress :)

This is the most ridiculous thread I have ever read on this web site. Are we really obsessing about one girl and one dress and one overly expensive tacky brand name? Can we just stop. At this point I don't care whether this insecure PNM rides up on a horse wearing absolutely nothing. I just want her to go away.
