It's not out of control, but it is probably the busiest time of sorority life. You might want to wait to find a job until you get a handle on the expectations. You also wouldn't want to be able to spend time getting to know people in your pledge class because these are the people you will wind up living with in all probability your soph, junior and sr years. And, finally, you will want to know what you need to do to balance studying and social stuff, perhaps before introducing a job into the mix. I got a job, but it wasn't until the end of first semester because that's when I knew what I could handle. And I didn't want to annoy my employer by asking for time off because things I couldn't anticipate were getting in the way.

Would you say it was more busier on the weekend or throughout the week

Every week seemed to be different. But we did have required study hours each evening.

You will have Chapter every week, and most likely New Member meetings as well.

And con't forget homecoming. New members are expected to put in LOTS of evening hours for homecoming.

You'll be busier than other girls in your dorm when you join a sorority. If you have good time management skills it will be a breeze. If you are worried about balancing school and sorority stuff make sure you go to study hours! Also try to join something outside your sorority so you have something else to be busy with too. In my house when you are a new member you don't come to chapter until you are initiated, but you do have new member meetings. As far as getting a job wait until you finish your first semester! The spring is always much easier and I'm sure your family will understand.
