non party, nice, christian girls?

by:

What Sorority at Mizzou is less about getting drunk and more about friendship/sisterhood & philanthropy/school involvement? I am not a girl who hoôks up at parties or gets drunk really. I love the idea of a sorority-and am a cute, fun, smart girl-and don't want a house where partying is the focus. Would also love a house with some other Christian girls. What house fits this description?

First of all every house is going to have some girls that do not party or drink. But people would say the sorority that parties the least is Theta. I also know there is a decent amount of christian girls in there.

I don't think any house would really judge you for not drinking/partying. You will get a feel of each house during recruitment and I would judge everything off of your personal experiences with them.

Actually KDs new pledge class goes out a lot, my roommate is a KD and her sisters and her would all get ready together to go out practically every weekend and throughout the week.
But KD is also more about involvement and sisterhood and less about partying as a whole.
No house is going to judge you for not partying or drinking, but always do what makes you comfortable! Another option is Theta!

If faith is important to you, make it known on your recruitment application. When listing your involvement and hobbies, include your youth group and faith based activities. The chapters will likely have you talk to women who have similar interests.

I wouldn't belabor the faith-based stuff. First of all, you don't want to be typecast before you even get to college. Second, you can find like-minded people in every house so there is no need to set yourself apart. Third, consider that once you are away from home you might want to figure out for yourself who you are without mom and dad insisting you get up for church every Sunday. Fourth, cool it on the "Christian girls." Most women in sororities are Christian because that is the demographic makeup of the majority of America. It is insulting to imply there is only one kind of Christian girl. It's time to expand your horizons and not get all judgey if people don't think exactly the way you do. You will find that there are absolutely wonderful, compassionate, warm and true women who are just like you, except they don't wear their religion on their sleeve.

^^^^^^^ So true. Why in the world would you want to join an organization where most of the people are just like you? Isn't college the place where you figure out, on your own, who you are and what you want to be? As for me, I sure hope that the person who walks across the stage at graduation is not the same person I was when I arrived in Columbia or not much growth will have occurred.

If this is an important value to you, there is a Christian sorority on campus called Sigma Phi Lambda, they are pretty small but they're based on being Sisters for the Lord.
