will the look at high school or college gpa more
by: hoping for a chanceI got cut from recruitment last year and had a low GPA, slightly under a 3.0. But My freshman year of college I did very well, my overall year GPA was a 3.514, and my spring semester GPA was a 3.7. I have worked really hard this school year and I hope chapters will view my improvement as a good thing. Do you guys think I have a chance of getting a bid?
#3by: Good for you
First, congrats on doing well your freshman year and focusing on getting your grades up. The main reason for having a gpa cutoff is because high school grades tend to be predictive of college grades. So what you have done is beat the odds, and that is a great thing!
That being said, my house will only look at your college gpa. Again, we consider high school grades a general predictor of your likelihood to do well juggling college classes and sorority requirements. Once you have a college gpa, especially a full year, we no longer really need to guess how well you will do. Your 3.5+ would ensure you would not be released due to grades.
