beauty??

Do you have to be one of the "hot" girls do get into an upper level house? It seems like especially on here that all people care about is how many skinny, hot girls are in a house.

Not by a long shot - but you must have good grades, activities, leadership and philanthropic positions. Looks help, but if you're a beautiful, awkward nerdy girl that can hurt you more than anything.

The only upper tier house that is considered a "hot" house is Tri Delt, and their grades have been slipping lately so they aren't really known for being as well-rounded any more. Gamma Phi and Alpha Phi are two other houses that choose girls based on looks more than anything else, but they aren't very well-respected. ChiO and PiPhi have more than their share of very attractive girls, but no one would ever say they make their selections base on looks alone.

I'm confused as to why you say Tri Delt's grades have been slipping? They placed 5th in grades first semester with a 3.35 average GPA and then second semester went down to 8th but their GPA was a 3.38?

It cracks me when up when people talk about a sorority's grades slipping because half the time it's like a .1 change or in this case, their grades went up but their ranking went down...so really, are you concerned about a sorority's ranking or their actual GPA because I think we all know what actually matters

Second semester grades are always significantly higher than first semester grades. If you check the historical grades for each sorority you will find that in most cases each house improves. TriDelt's improved, yes, but less than the other houses. It is the ranking that matters, not the GPA, when you are talking about gaining ground or slipping. And if you are wondering why grades are better second semester it is because more people are taking classes in their major second semester and you always do better once you take classes you enjoy.

And also because people have settled in and have know better what and how to study.

I completely disagree with you. I was taking classes in my major first semester too, it all depends on what you're studying. It still does not make sense to talk about a house's grades slipping when they actually rose and it is not the ranking that matters, having good grades and connections are what get you the jobs honey, not what your sorority was ranked your second semester.

EVERY house's grades rise second semester. TriDelt's just didn't rise by as much as other houses. What about that do you not understand? Yes, the soroity grade point is fantastic, esp. compared to the all-school gpa. But Tri Delt's isn't as good as other houses and they have been falling in the ranks. End of story.

It's only the superficial girls, or those who don't really understand what it takes to get into a good house, who value looks over anything else.

If you want to join a smart house, what really matters is how the house ranks compared to other houses.

What matters is that the house focuses on academics and continually strives to improve. All of our houses do this. Fractions of a point seperate most of our houses so the rankings are only important to trolls like you who are on here looking for a reason to tear a house down.

Thanks so much for the lecture, TriDelt,. But here are the facts. Since Fall of 2012, TriDelt has done no better than 5th, and was 8th in Spring 2015, 7th in Spring 2014 and 7th in Spring 2013. Until this spring their GPA went from 3.28 in the fall of 2012 to 3.32, 3.32, 3.31 and 3.35. In every semester their GPA and rank was consistently beaten by Theta, PiPhi, ChiO and ADPi, not always in that order. The fact is TriDelt has a lot going for it, but it is not one of the best houses academically. They still have fairly strict grade cuts during rush, but their focus on grades once someone joins is slipping, and that's worrisome to the smarter girls going through rush who want to know they will be supported by their chapter in their efforts to get top grades in college. Many houses do that (Theta, of course, but also PiPhi, ChiO and ADPi). So when people say TriDelt focuses more on looks than academics, they are absolutely correct. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and, don't get me wrong, TriDelt is a fine house. But they are becoming more one-dimensional and if they want to remain an overall top house they need to ramp up the focus on academics.

Someone's a little touchy. All she did was point out that TriDelt isn't a top house academically while also adding that TriDelt is a fine house that has a lot going for it. Now, what about that says "crazy?" What about that says she spreads hate and outright lies? Someone indeed is a little cuckoo, but I don't think it's the person who used facts to prove a point.

Any house that is getting an average of above a 3.0 (whichost houses are) are getting good grades! Talking about Tri Delt or any other house falling in ranks because of some minuscule GPA change is ridiculous! It's amazing that most houses are getting an average above a 3.0 when you are averaging between 200 and 300 girls together. The only houses anyone should be tearing down on for grades are houses below that 3.0 line or close to it. End of story.

You may think that a 3.0 is commendable, but I think it's awful. Maybe you should aim a little higher, the way most women in sororities do on this campus. If I got a 3.0 any semester my parents would yank me out of school and make me go to work. You do realize, don't you, that if your house GPA is a 3.0, that there are as many girls who get an embarrassingly putrid 2.5 as there are girls who get a 3.5. And in my book a 3.5 is not all that great.

I'm actually a nursing major and have a 4.0 and just got accepted into Nursing school (the most competitive college at Mizzou) so I'm aiming pretty high. But when you think about it. When you average that many girls together getting above a 3.0 is good. I didn't say every girl is getting a 3.0 or below, most girls are getting between a 3.3 and 3.8. And most houses get above a 3.2 or 3.3. I hope every girl tried for higher than a 3.0, but for averages sake that is just fine.
