Will it lessen my chances in getting into that sorority if a girl that's already in it doesn't like me , I'm scared she'll tell all the other girls

In my house, we usually start the whole recruitment week process off with an announcement to everyone in one room that if we know of anyone going through rush we would absolutely HATE to have as a sister, or basically, we would like die and drop the house ourselves if this girl became a member because they did us that wrongly, or it would be that uncomfortable to have her in the house, and I mean it must be a serious serious reason, then that girl would more than likely be cut as soon as it is mentioned. Otherwise, you aren't to mention it and let her have the opportunity. However, I know in some houses there is some extreme cattiness that goes on and girls will cut girls for reasons as dumb as "my boyfriend liked her selfie." So it really depends on what house you are referring to and whether the girl who doesn't like you is well liked/trusted among her sisters enough to have you cut.

We do take into consideration if a girl doesn't like another girl that's rushing but the situation has to be really, really bad for it to count. I think the last girl we cut because of this informed us the girl rushing had a criminal record she was hiding and it turned out to be true. Otherwise we rush you just like every other girl in the house.

If the house you are referring to doesn't give you an equal chance because of some drama that happened, then is that a house you want to be in? Every house should give you an equal chance regardless of any falling outs you've had with other members.

It happens all the time. So while your conclusion that no one would want to be in a house that does this is admirable, it also leaves precious few houses from which to choose. There's a moral to the story: be nice to one another. And that works both ways.

The reality is that this happens all the time. That's why people say it's better to go through rush if you are from out of state and don't know anyone. While some houses make you state ahead of time why you absolutely would not want someone to be in the house, that's not the only way you could be eliminated because someone dislikes you. The other way is if that girl works behind the scenes to get people to not "vote you up," or give you a high ranking. Some houses are worse about this than others. TriDelt, DG and Kappa are among the worst. ChiO, PiPhi, Theta and ADPi tend to be a bit more open minded about this sort of thing. Keep in mind the source, too. If the person who hates you is not well-liked in her own house, then no one cares what they think.
