That's why recs are important. Alums can send in a photo with the recs, and most do. Make sure you provide your resume AND a photo to the alum who does your rec.

I also should add that it is definitely NOT TRUE that most houses have their minds made up before rush. We do pre-rank based on grades, activities, ACTS, etc. But only the houses who rely a lot on choosing girls who already are friends of existing members lock in the people they want before rush begins. And why would you want a cliquey house anyway where everyone already knows everyone?

Houses actually do lookup pretty much every girl going through recruitment. There are important safety reasons about why it's done (like every girls criminal background) and we have the job of choosing 90 girls out of 2,000 so knowing every little bit helps. PHA not letting you submit a photo is a way to cut down on pre choosing bees based on superficial things. On the first round every house does their best to give every girl an equal chance. But every house has a particular girl or type of girl that they are looking for to keep the future of their house going.

We don't have our bid list picked out before you guys get here, but we do have our black ball list before you rush. My house has an entire team of girls who don't participate in rush and instead they just spend all the time leading up to rush stalking all of your social media. If you say or do something terrible/weird/etc on social media your name gets put on a list to "watch out" for.

We had a girl rush last year who made Youtube videos about her panties and she was just a standard liability all around so we knew we weren't going to take her before she even rushed.

Get Recs! Or I know a girl who sent her resume and photo directly to the rush chairman as she knew no one Ito get a rec from. She sent a really sweet letter saying she was interested in the house but knew no one to get a rec from. She ended up in that house. Worth a try!

It's true that we have dozens of girls behind the scenes doing research on the girls that we might consider. If someone has made grade cuts and if we don't have a rec from a trusted alum who knows her personally, we really amp up the research. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, tumblr, Linked In. We check it all. that's why it has been mentioned on this website that PNMs should clean up their social media. And, really, it should already be cleaned up. We look for signs of immaturity, like drinking, parading around in bikinis or odd clothes, overt pda's, and general tastelessness.

You know how the actives come to Mizzou a week earlier than the PNMs? We aren't just "practicing songs." We literally sit through powerpoints that go over 1500 girls. And we have a team working all summer to scope out the PNMs. But no, we do not have our minds made up. We just need some sort of starting point.
