tips on recs.

Hi guys, I've seen multiple posts about rec letters over the last few months so here is what you should know:

For the most part, rec letters are a very southern thing. Here at Mizzou, they are not so important. It is always an advantage to have one, but the way we see it, considering most of the girls youre competing with will also have them, they are not a huge huge deal. So do get one or two letters for the houses you're really interested in, but don't stress if you don't have like 5 letters for each house. they won't look at them all.

Secondly, for some houses, they are more important than others. I know every house has their own rules, but generally, if they like you enough to be in their house, they will find a way to let you in, rec letter or no rec letter.

Thirdly, you should be submitting them as soon as you can. Houses receive rec letters all year long from girls aspiring to rush. Check on their websites to see exactly where to have them sent.

Finally, try to make sure the alumni you have writing your letters is quality. They are more likely to be read and considered if it is a very active alum or a recent one that knows a lot of girls in house still.

Just remember not to stress about these things. The most important thing is to make sure YOU look good on paper and in person, not what someone writes about you :)
