by: CCOk so what I gather from reading a LOT on this site is that I should keep an open mind but hope for - Tri Delt, Pi phi or chi o if I am outstanding. Adpi, theta, kappa if I'm close to amazing. DG, GPhi, KD or AXO if I'm okay, and the rest if I just want to be Greek. Am I close?

I wouldn't call anyone an idiot, but there is a lot more to the selection process than that. For example, you could be absolutely amazing, but if ChiO thinks it has too many small-town Missouri girls or too many girls from Raytown or Naperville or whatever, then you won't fit into their plans. Or you could be a cheerleader and have starred in your high school musical with a 30 ACT, but if you don't give off the right vibe, PiPhi might not be interested. Or you could be extremely attractive and smart and look great on paper, but someone at TriDelt might think you are superficial or you might put your foot in your mouth during a conversation and that's that. The first cut could be considered your "credentials," such as your grades, ACTs, class rank, activities, leadership etc., and that's very important. But more important is how your present yourself and how well you would fit in and that's the challenging part because no one knows exactly what the most selective houses (which also would include Theta, ADPi and some others in addition to the Top 3) are looking for. So that's why we say give every house a chance, keep an open mind and bring your best self to rush. It will all work out and you will find a place where you can be happy, but you might be surprised where that is because of all the intangibles of rush.
