oh wow

by: Yikes

As an incoming freshman and pnm, I just want to put my thoughts out there about these discussion threads and ratings on the various house pages. One of the big reasons I picked Mizzou was because of the super involved and vibrant Greek life, because I want to be part of a group of women who love their school and each other. Half the things being said on here are totally disparaging and rude and the other half seem to be self-rating. Is this what the Greek life is like in real life, off the internet at school? Obviously there are petty people at every school and in every house, but the image this site gives of Greek life at Miz isn't exactly good...

This website is not a representation of mizzou greek life AT ALL. It's petty and a stupid pass time (I admit I go on this website and read the discussions often). But don't let this silly website deter you from what could be an amazing experience! No one is this petty and awful in Greek Town as this site makes you think.

You picked a school because of their Greek life? Really? Glad you're no longer interested because I'm extremely involved within our "disparaging" Greek community and I can say with unwavering certainty that I can't name one single woman in my organization nor can I name one in ANY other that would want someone to be apart of their chapter who is more interested in being a sorority than they are about their future career, about school, about their professional ambitions. It seems like you have a LOT of growing up to do. Yeah we all LOVE our sisters and our organizations to death, we love our "rude" community too, but we have our priorities straight. The whole point of college is for academics and to achieve higher education so we can go on and excel in the big girl world. You have to get your priorities straight and quit being such an adolescent drama queen. Don't even bother rushing because you probably won't get a bid.

You have CLEARLY missed the point of what I'm saying. 1) I don't value Greek life more than school or career ambitions, it was just one of the pros that I thought about when I decided to go to mizzou. 2) I haven't lost interest AT ALL I'm saying that I really want to come see for myself because at least from what I've seen on this site your Greek community has some issues with drama and bad mouthing. . 3) I don't know why you're so mad that I'm getting a bad impression from the anonymous ratings and hate the houses seem to get. So I'm sorry I offended you, or any MU greek woman, because I was confused. Please Stop trying to harass me and make me look like an uninformed kid.

The reality of Greek Life at Mizzou in no way resembles what goes on here.

This is obviously a little girl who doesn't actually know the first thing about Greek life. Life isn't like gossip girl, and if you really feel like our community is so awful, don't be a part of it. There are plenty of things to do on campus, so you can take your childish attitude and closed mind to one of them

I'm sorry, have you somehow missed the weekly posts on this page lecturing everyone about how this does not represent Miz Greek life at all?? Any of the open letters to PNMs?

Back in the dark ages before internet girls knew the reps of the houses just by word of mouth. Nothing has changed and there will always be tiers regardless of this site where Anyone can post anonymously. You don't know if I'm an active, a PNM, a frat boy, a parent, GDI, a weirdo lurker.
