pnm recruitment q&a and advice

by: Holly

I figured we could have one singular thread where girls could come and ask questions about recruitment and get some good, honest answers. I know we had a thread like this for COB and it helped a lot of girls out so if you're a PNM and you have questions, post them here to get some answers.

I went through a Panhellenic Alumni page to get my letters, is there anyway for me to check and verify that they actually sent them?

You'll need to follow up with them directly. A lot of pnms will put a prepaid postcard in their packet asking that the alumna send it back so that they know that the rec was done. Did you actually speak with someone? If you didn't send a thank you note, this would be a good chance to do that. If you don't know the address, you can reach out to who you contacted originally. Explain that you forgot to send a thank you note and would like to get in touch with the alumna who wrote your rec. If she forgot, this will be a gentle reminder to her.

Will people in my dorm be mean to me because I'll be in a sorority? I want friends in the dorm too.

I liked it personally, I have a great group of sorority friends and I have a great group of dorm friends! And lets be real, if someone doesn't wanna be friends with you because you're in a sorority...do you really wanna be friends with them?

You might get a few people who judge you from the jump for being Greek but it's very easy to make dorm friends in addition to sorority friends.
