pnm recruitment q&a and advice
by: HollyI figured we could have one singular thread where girls could come and ask questions about recruitment and get some good, honest answers. I know we had a thread like this for COB and it helped a lot of girls out so if you're a PNM and you have questions, post them here to get some answers.

What makes a pnm stand out to a house? and is it really just luck by who you get paired to talk to, because there's so many girls in a house I'm sure not every active will like the same pnms? is it one mediocre conversation and you're done? That just really worries me! Any advice helps, thanks!

Sororities do quite a bit of background work. They categorize PNMs according to grades, activities, leadership, rigor of course work, competitiveness of their high school, etc. They also spend untold numbers of hours perusing Facebook and other social media to get a more complete picture of PNMs. Then many houses use a point system to rank girls before they even step foot in the house. Then the parties start and you have the opportunity to have a discussion, hopefully that is more than superficial. That's why it is important to do what you can to help make the conversation flow. Remember, the people you are talking to may be nervous, too, if this is their first rush from the "other side." So come prepared with questions and think about how you can keep the conversation going. As rush progresses and you get asked back, you might very well see some of the same members who have been "assigned" to you so that the conversation is even easier. Believe me, the process is more comprehensive than you might think and the only way that you would be done after just one conversation is because something else has helped determine you aren't a good fit for that house.
