recolonize?

by:

I seem to recall hearing that Alpha Phi had some problems several years ago and had to kick a bunch of people out. Did they recolonize? Does anyone know anything about this?

Everyone got moved to alumna status and they recruited an entirely new class. Not quite recolonization but pretty close. They didn't leave campus, they just replaced their entire house.

There are still stories about in the Maneater archives if you Google.

Reorganizing worked for Alpha Phi here and at Cornell, Duke and UVA. At those schools APhi is now solid middle to upper middle. (APhi at Cornell is actually one of the so-called Core Four.)

However, there was a lot of drama and bitterness at the time. The chapter alumnae association and APhi national both pressured the actives to go alum so they wouldn't lose their charter and their spot in Panhellenic, and possibly have to wait years and years for the campus to open for extension. Some of the actives threatened to sue and claimed they were forced out of the house, told not to wear letters around campus, told not to associate with the new chapter, etc.

Considering this happened about the time that incoming freshmen were born, it's not really a current news item or current story.

Neither is the fact that DG was caught hazing or several Thetas went alum because they were with child or several Chi-o babies this year were sent to the hospital because of too much alcohol or Adpi was kicked out of Greek week two years ago because one of their members showed up at a blood meeting with alcohol but y'all like to beat those like a dead horse. Everyone on this site likes to bring up old news and bully each other with it.

Nah, that stuff is relevant because it happened recently. I wouldn't want to join a house that got kicked out of Greek Week.

Seems like every house has had there fair share of scandals!!! I'm sure there are more to be dug up and discussed on this site!

Honestly every 4 years a chapter changes, because the women who have been there the longest are no longer there, new leadership takes over, different types of girls start being recruited. It's just the process and evolution of members.

Most happened this year and aren't old news. Sorry that you'd like to sweep them under the rug. :(((

I'm the OP and it was just a question. Are we no longer allowed to ask straightforward, non-accusatory questions? And when did one simple question, with nary an ulterior motive, become bullying or beating a dead horse?
