what's up with kappa?
by: WonderingThey seem to be in a downward spiral, and the recent grade postings confirm that. Three or four years ago they seemed to be showing signs of life, but now they just seem to be a bunch of "almost" girls: almost attractive, almost smart, almost popular. They don't seem to have much of an identity and I haven't heard of even one that preffed Kappa first. Eager to hear what's the problem.

Why does everyone think Adpi is athletic... They're not even butchy. They're just kind of there. And kind of smart.... Why aren't you more worried about them? Stop pegging these dumb, age old and ulimately inaccurate stereotypes on houses they don't fit on just to tear someone else down. You don't have it all figured out

Having a strong identity certainly has worked for ChiO, TriDelta and PiPhi. Kappa could take a page from their manual.

When I was a PNM last year, i had always heard kappa is one of the most well rounded houses and as I met many of them throughout the year, that's prettttty much the impression I got. There's a little of everything in the house. You get super smart, super pretty, super social, super motivated... There's a little of it all. So perhaps that's their "identity" just well rounded. Not a bad one If you ask me.

Since when is over a 3.4 gpa losing ground. You girls are ridiculous. The top 8 spots were so close it's not even comparable. Yay! You got first by less than a 10th of a percentage. Woo hoo. Yay you.
It's great to be competitive but maybe we should also try being humble.

I agree with what? posted. Kappa is the epitome of well rounded. I was sad to be cut from kappa, I felt like I bonded with their identity: private school, wealthy parents, 3.6 gpa, played competitive high school sports-enough to have collegiate offers, fun and nice- I get the identity I just didn't get in :(
Many pnm's want this house for obvious reasons and maybe the people on this website don't fit the kappa identity and therefore are jealous!!

In fact, I doubt they are even on the site. but it sure is fun for someone to post something critical about Kappa and then watch the defensive loonies come out of the woodwork. Right on cue.

You called it. You can tell it's the same "looney" that's always in here bashing houses by her know it all and condescending tone as well as her snarky attitude. She tries to tear down a house ( probably started this post) and then responds to it as different people. When anyone tries to defend the house she calls them out as being crazy or always on this site when the truth is she is the one always stirring up something. This is one crazy, bitter, jealous, pathetic loser who needs to get a life.

Yeah I can tell you're the same girl too. I have seen people defending your alleged "undisputed top 3" houses too. Are you gonna yell at them and call them not top because now they're on here defending themselves? Just stop. I have seen every house be defended on here including your beloved top 3 whether it's by people in the actual house itself or just admirers of the house who see them as a good entity. If I were to post something nasty about one of them im sure someone would come to their rescue as well because I've seen it happen time and time again. Just relax. If this is about you not wanting kappa to be considered a top tier house, fine. You're entitled to your own opinion. Some people think they are, some think they aren't. Same goes for everyone house. Not everyone thinks the alleged top 3 are top either. So contain yourself.

Kappa may wish it wasn't so, but ChiO, TriDelt and PiPhi seem to be the undisputed top houses. Next would probably be Theta and ADPi, based on selectivity and return rates. Until the past year I would have put Kappa in that group, but they do seem to have slipped. Sorry I'm not sorry. And you noticed all of the Kappas are critical of the OP, but not one has given a reason why they aren't slipping. Plus, the Krazy Kappa responses aren't really helping. Before you start ripping me a new one, I am just a person who went through rush last year, suicided a top house and didn't get it. That was my bad judgment. I will be going through again as a sophomore and likely won't have as easy a time of it this year and so I am probably destined to not be Greek. But I remain a fan of the system and had a chance to see most of the better houses multiple times last year, and I have dozens of friends in a variety of houses. It's just that no one I know was very impressed by Kappa.

I really wanted to be a Kappa because I loved following their tumblr and blog an dinsta leading up to their recruitment. They just stood out to me. And their philanthropy is something near to my heart. But when I went through rush and went to their house Iw asn't all that impressed. The girls were nice, but slightly awkward in conversation. They were beautiful girls but talked about very superficial topics. When I was cutfrom them after sisterhood round I was upset because I had followed that house all summer and had high hopes but other than that I didn't really care. They are a great house but I agree that they are becoming pretty "meh" and just average.

Kappa is totally lacking an identity. It has a great national and a very pretty, historic house. It should be better, but it just isn't. While other houses are on the rise (DG, AXO,ADPi, APhi), Kappa is slipping. I hope they have a good rush because I would hate to see them fall even further.

...But each and every pledge class is made up of a majority of women who would rather have joined another house. They need to work on finding an identity and standing for something. Basking on their reputation as the oldest sorority just isn't going to cut it. EVERY house attracts more than one type of girl, so that's hardly enough. Kappa needs to figure out who they are and until they do they will be a second-choice house.
