phi mu
by: pnmI'm a double Legacy from Georgia for Phi Mu and really want to wear my mom and grandmothers letters. In Georgia, phi Mu is basically impossible to get into unless your a legacy, but obviously that's not the case here. Is it really that bad being in a bottom tier house? Do people really shun you and frats won't let you in their house? Why does it even matter if I'm happy with them
#2by: Not necessarily
Phi mu here is obviously bottom tier but it's really not the worst thing that could happen to you. I've never personally seen any girls get kicked out of frats and especially for that reason there's no way they would no what house you're in. They are with a good fraternity for hoco this fall and won last year so you know the girls are driven and hard working. Like you said, it shouldn't matter if that's where you're happy but there are 14 other houses to experience and every house has something amazing to offer just something to think about before recruitment
#3by: Actually
I went to UGa for a year and went through rush. I wound up in a top house and transferred to that chapter at Mizzou, which also is a top house. PhiMu at UGa. is not really a top house. They think they are, but they have an overinflated opinion of themselves. If you really want to wear those letters, pledge at Mizzou. UGa's system isn't as good as Mizzou and you likely will be happy in that house here.

Phi Mu is a very sought after house in the south and is a extremely old money southern house in most places. At Mizzou.... Not so much. That doesn't mean they're bad by any means. They just don't hold a candle to their more southern sisters. Good luck in rush though.

The chapter advisor for Alpha Alpha-Phi Mu at UGA is an alum from Phi Mu at Mizzou. Yes both chapters are different, but our letters are what allows is to share our bond with the entire Phi Mu nation. We all make up a network of strong, intelligent women no matter what state we are in. Go through recruitment and see what you think.

You know what you want. You want to be a Phi Mu. So rush Phi Mu. They are actually getting better than they used to be. The won HOCO last year and have been steadily improving in competitions. Grades? Meh, not the worst but not the best. But the girls are nice and you will love it. It's clearly important to you to keep this legacy going so do that and do it for yourself.
Nobody is going to moo at you on campus, nobody is going to keep you from going to parties, you're not going to become a pariah because you rush Phi Mu. The only hate they get is on this website. The actual environment of greek town is much nicer. It's not bad.

My sister goes to UGa and isn't a PhiMu legacy, but was asked back to all of their parties during rush. She cut them before the last day and didn't think they were a big deal. I just talked with her and she described them as "all blond and really white." If you would be happy with that chapter you probably would be happy with Mizzou's PhiMu chapter. Both houses have room for improvement and your pride in your letters probably would have a positive impact.

Phi Mu is actually on the rise. They won hoco and their spring pledge class has beautiful girls. They do not get shunned at parties because like every house of 300+ girls, some are pretty and some are not. Their grades are not the best but still well above Mizzou average. You will be surprised because Mizzou's so called "lower tier" is far better than other universities "top tier", it is competitive and consider yourself lucky to get into any house. Considering Mizzou is suppose to have the largest sorority rush program in the nation this year with well over 2,000 pnm's it will continue to get harder and harder to get into any house. Every house at Mizzou can afford to be picky with these numbers.

I have some friends that are Phi Mu's and lambda's and Although lambda is a great fraternity and Phi Mu won last year both the girls an dguys I know have expressed concerns because last time they were paired together a huge fight broke out when lambda publicly on twitter bashed Phi Mu. So although I'm sure they will work for homecoming I know that's still an issue. Phi Mu isn't a house a girl should be afraid to join anymore, even though it's still considered bottom tier it's not a social no no anymore.
