They probably only took friends of in house girls.

That's because they didn't and never have. No girls dropped kappa this year so they would've had no reason to even have a new pledge class and so I'm assuming the error was that hence the reason the stats were removed. Plus, everyone tells me they are just nationally only allowed to do formal rush for some reason. Their nationals probably freaked out lol.

Panhellanic doens't have any sort of control over informal recruitment because it is ALL up to the chpaters an dtheir national rules. Panhellenic is trying to get more involved and they did. This year any girl who was invited to do informal recruitment was sent a PHA google form to fill out and turn in. Each house that I COB'd had it's own handout as well that I had to fill out. PHA just doesn't have that much control. I COB's for A Chi O, Zeta, DG, KD, and Alpha Phi. I am now an Alpha Phi. It is not shady at all. It's a process controlled by each house in the way they want. It's super chill and you actually get to talk to actives for more than 15 to 20 minutes at a time.
Also lots of houses do it hush hush. Any house that invites a girl to come to their house is COBing. MANY houses have actives invite their non greek friends to encourage them to go greek. That is how I COB'd A Chi O and I Have a really goof friend invited by Tri Delt. So get your facts straight. Please.

The fact is that it's a Good Old Girls network that is closed to those who don't have friends who are part of the inner circle. That, by definition, makes it discriminatory. I have heard of dozens of girls, including minorities, who filled out the PHC form and never heard a thing.
We can -- and should -- do better.

The point of COB is to find a small group of loyal women to pledge the chapter and jump right into it as new members. One of the ways to test if a girl is truly interested in a chpater is to wait for them to contact you. Every girl i know who COB'd emailed the chapter membership or recruitment chair directly letting them know they are interested in that house. Filling out a form made by PHA who has no power over a chapter's informal recruitment efforts is not enough. IF a house COB's they only take the best because there are no rules. So what if a chapter wants new members? Maybe they have a large amount of girls who are studying abroad or will have an abmormal amount of seniors graduate? There is nothing "shady" about COBing. The only houses who are shady about it are the ones that don't announce their new members. And as I recall KD, A Phi, ADPi, and Phi Mu all publicized their new members.

Do you even know how to use Google?

Sorry it was in print on the Greek life site that Kappa took 21 new members. If it was a mistake you can't blame the ladies who saw it. I saw it with my own two eyes. So calm down. I'm sure if the information was incorrect Greek life will fix it. You don't have to call the girls who saw it liars.
