theta = boring?

by: Wondering in MN

My grandmother was a Theta at MU. I know I'm not guaranteed anything as a legacy but I was wondering why so many people have told me they are boring, don't mix with other sororities and don't take many girls from large cities. I'm from Minneapolis and don't even know if I'll have a chance.

The main problem most sororities have with Theta is that they sometimes come off as being very into themselves. The type of women they recruit are usually seen as the over achievers, which can be seen as a good thing, but sometimes can interfere how they bond with each other as well as the rest of the greek community. My guess for why they usually recruit smaller town girls would be because they like valedictorians and in smaller towns that's more likely because the schools are generally smaller. Go through recruitment with an open mind, and I'm sure everything will work out. Good luck!!

Some people are fortunate to become Thetas. The rest of us just wind up working for them.

Because the house you are in has everything to do with your future success in life. Please, get over yourself. There are plenty of successful women from every other house on this campus and even more who aren't Greek.

And if you have any doubts about that, just ask Claire McCaskill.

Thetas really value legacies, so if you're a generally nice person with pretty good grades, you'll have a good chance.
