advice
by: pnmwhat are some things you wish you would have known before going through recruitment or pieces of advice to give to pnms?

Always be nice regardless of whether you "want" to be in that house or not. Houses talk to each other and if you are really rude at one house other houses will know. Also, the people you're meeting aren't just Greeks; they are the leaders of this campus. You don't want to be remembered as being shallow when you're trying to get into other organizations and be turned down.

Choose a house that you feel comfortable in and don't come in with any ideas about what house you think you'll want to be in. Take all stereotypes with a grain of salt. And don't take getting cut by a house too personally because that just means there's something better out there that you'll love even more

I learned to put a smile on my face and just keep going. I got asked back to some of my favorite houses, but not all. I could have over-reacted, fallen apart or be reduced to tears. Instead I took it with a grain of salt and ventured on. I didn't take it personally and just decided to be the best version of myself and the houses could take it or leave it. I wound up in a top tier house, actually, but on the last day I had a top tier, a mid tier and a somewhat bottom tier. I made great friends who were going through the same thing and we all are better for the experience. Not everyone is going to like you as you go through life. But you damn well better like yourself. When I made up my mind to not give up, I liked myself even more and it showed. Now I'm happy where I wound up and a better person for the experience.

Rush every house like it's your favorite house. If you are going into recruitment with an open mind then think of every house as a top house and that you want to be there, it shows! If you go inot recruitment really wanting to be an Alpha Alpha Alpha (or insert whichever house) treat every house like how you would treat the active at that house. Actives recognize these things! The girls wiht the best outcomes are the ones who are kind and appreciate everyone along the way.

There is nothing wrong with middle and bottom tier houses. Every single member of every house works so hard to make sure recruitment is the best it can be. I started recruitment wanting to desperately be in a top house and fit a certain stereotype but once I learned how huge and diverse greek life at maize really is, stereotypes almost disappeared for me. I def ended up where I belong and just followed what I thought the right choice for me.

IGNORE THIS STUPID SITE!!! That is by far the best advice you can have. There's maybe 2% helpful info and the rest are girls bashing other houses, especially if they were cut by them during Recruitment. Everyone can find somewhere to fit in. This site is RIDICULOUS!
