being a pledge
by: meas a pledge of a sorority, are there certain restrictions as far as going home for the weekend or night or anything? I know some fraternities have restrictions during the pledge period!

You won't be kept from going home during your new member period, unless there is an event or meeting that you need to attend. However, as tempting as it is to go home on the weekends, especially since a lot of people at Mizzou live so close by, try to avoid it. Your best memories with your new sisters will be made on the weekends, not in class. I don't even mean solely partying.. Going shopping, hiking, just hanging out at your new house is so much fun and will show that you are open to making new friends and getting involved in your chapter.

While it's not politically correct, the word pledge is used all of the time. And everyone knows what it means. It may have a derogatory connotation for fraternities, but it is a perfectly good word for women who have pledged to join but have not yet been initiated into full membership.
