I ended up in a "Top House" and LOVED these 2 houses during rush. They are sought after houses that a lot of girls love during rush and you cannot deny that...

THETA AND ADPI ARE NOT TOP hahaha I'm so dead...Kappa is even pushing it but are you kidding? You can't be serious putting those 2 in the top

I see on this site all the time people putting adpi and theta at the top and that's so far from the truth. Yes they have good grades but they are SO unpopular during rush. I remember coming out of adpi and no one was impressed and the only people who want theta are the awkward smart girls. Gphi and DG are much more sought after during rush that's just how it is

During rush GPhi and DG are much more sought after houses becauses they put on great shows and are great and promoteing themselevs, which is awesome for them! Then after the cuts happen and girls rush gets less and less superficial then other houses become more and more appealing. I know alot of girls who didn't like Pi Phi or Theta or Tri Delt in the beggining but ended loving them in the end when they got cut from DG and GPhi. THen unfortunately the girls DG and Gphi end up getting aren't as good as they thought during rush an dthat is why those houses continue to be only middle tier.

Well said. A lot of us felt the same way and are very happy in our houses. My house is not known for their grades but I have a 3.7 after 2 years. I am able to be involved in many ways in my house because everyone isn't competing for positions so they can put it on their resumes. I found a great group of girls to hang out with, party with, and just be myself with.

I think you can make a case that the most selective houses are the best houses because they get the girls they want. I understand that some people are at Mizzou to party and find guys, and thanks for being honest about it, but the top houses attract women who aim a little higher. You might think that means they take themselves too seriously, but I think that just means they don't settle for being average.

I don't know why people think you can't be a good friend or sister just because you're smart and care about doing well in your major. Did I miss something? I mean, I get it that some people are perfectly content to be surrounded by mediocrity because it makes you feel somehow better about yourself, but don't tell me that high achievers in top houses don't have a good sisterhood or somehow can't make friends. That's just wrong.

So you really think that girls in the most selective houses define themselves by their GPA? In my experience, we just assume that we will have a stellar GPA. That's why we are in college. But I define myself by my kindness towards others, my efforts to reach my full potential and to be the best friend and daughter I can be. Now, if you define yourself in other ways, so be it. But don't put me down just because I aim high, and that I prefer to surround myself with other like-minded people.

I graduated high school with a 4.0 and a 29 on my ACT. I was cut by Theta and Chi O after the second round (Chi O was more mutual). I for sure had the gardes to get into Theta and Chi O but I wouldn't fit into their sisterhood, Theta especially. Grades ARE NOT all these houses look at. If you ahve a mediocore grades but you are an outstanding woman with passion and drive then the girls will notice. I love my house an dwould never trade it for the world.

I don't think anyone has ever said that all you need to get into a top house is good grades. But you can't get into one of them unless you do have top grades. That's just a starting point, and then they look closely at other things, like activities, honors, awards. But MOST OF ALL you have to be able to carry on a conversation, be interesting and interested in others, and generally be an asset to the chapter. Sorry, but simply wanting to party and being pretty isn't enough. But if those are the qualities that make you happy, there is a house for you (I'm sure).

First of all, I doubt you dropped any top houses; they likely cut you. And second, do you really think that top houses aren't diverse? You make it sound as if there is only one type of smart person. Well, we have smart people with amazing vocal talents, smart people who hold state athletic records, smart people who have attended national leadership conferences, smart people who are stunningly beautiful, smart people who are African-American, smart people who are biracial...well, you get the picture. As for humility and compassion, I believe it was "smart but not stuck up" doesn't know what it means to be humble.
