rush
by: PnmNot trying to sound snobby at all, but I went to a college prep, very challenging highschool and have about a 3.46 gpa. Could this possibly hold me back from getting a bid anywhere? I have tons of extracurriculars and leadership

Your grades won't eliminate you, but your attitude might. We all are in college and the vast majority of women going through rush graduated from suburban college prep high schools. The AVERAGE ACT at my Chicago area public high school was a 31. Mine was a 33 and I had a better GPA than yours. So if you ratchet back your superiority complex, you might have a chance. But if you think the typical Missouri sorority girl rarely wears shoes and can't conjugate a verb (in English, Spanish OR French), you will be surprised.

Well some highschools are more challenging. I'm not stuck up by any means, but when I have friends at different schools going out on school nights and never doing homework while I'm at home with at least 4 hours of homework each night and we have almost the same gpa, I know my school is more challenging than their's.

I agree with what the other poster said about getting your bearings first and seeing how well you do, but rushing as a sophomore is 10x harder. You have to have an excellent GPA. Another thing you can do if you want to see how one semester goes, is to COB (Continuous Open Bidding) this is a great option because it is very informal. You go to the house for some sisterhood events and just sit and talk to multiple girls. It is very chill, however, not all sororities COB. Also this happens mostly in the spring, to the houses that don't fill their quotas. Good luck with this process! Lastly, if you can get into Mizzou with a 22 on your ACT, that's a privilege, your ACT score doesn't define you and they do want to see your GPA more.
