by: CuriousSo are Tri Delt Chi O and Pi Phi anything alike and do they go for the same girls? When a great girl goes through rush are those the ones they aspire to?

I'd say they're alike. Both usually land in the top five for grades, both are very pretty. I'd say Delta goes for more "classic" beauty, tall, tan, etc. Pi Phi has more hippie/stoner/alt looking pretty girls.
Delta = Pintrest Girls
Pi Phi = Tumblr girls.
Both attractive, but they have different styles. Both are wonderful houses.

TriDelt, ChiO, PiPhi, Theta and ADPi all attract girls who are very smart and self-assured. Each of these houses has their own identity, however, and a "type" so to speak. So while they are made up of high-achievers, they aren't all alike. Those are the houses that pretty much get their pick of girls and are very selective. I would say the next tier includes DG, Kappa and AXO. These girls certainly have a lot going for them, but most of their pledge classes are made up of women who preffed another house first. These three don't have very strong identities but their sisterhoods are just as good as the top five. That's why these three are sometimes called "wannabe" houses because they wanted to be something else, but don't be fooled. They are strong houses and any PNM should be proud to be a member. Then you have GPhi, APhi and the rest. These houses are not nearly as selective and don't focus much on grades, but everyone can find a niche and it doesn't matter what the house is known for as long as you think you would feel comfortable there. Oh, and to the previous poster: no one thinks Kappa is ahead of ChiO, and no one things Kappa is a mix of PiPhi, ChiO and Theta, though Kappas often wish they were.

I can assure "Wellllllllll" nobody thinks ADPi and Theta are above Kappa. I mean come on.

Ok what's an adpi? Like I cut them first during recruitment. No one knows they exist and I've never seen a guy in that house.

Also, please, I'm begging, don't just judge an entire house because of the tumblr. Pi phi, delta and GPHI are NOTORIOUS for only posting the pretty girls in the house because they want you to think that's the only girl they want. It's not. They take a variety of girls because no house gets every girl they want. There's an entire other
side of the house you're not seeing which is extremely unfair and a bad representation of their houses. It's extremely fake and the ladies in my house have discussed these tumblrs and we strive to not only show the beauty in our house but represent every girl that is doing good. It's okay to look and observe, but understand that it's not all rainbows and flowers and prettiness.

I loved Tri Delt because of the mature and glamorous attitude the girls seemed to have. I loved Pi Phi because they seemed serious but interesting, worldly and smart. I loved Chi O because they were fun and funny but serious about grades and passionate about their philanthropy. I won't tell you which wonderful house I ended up in, but I had a terrible time preffing because they were all so great and I felt so fortunate to be able to have that choice.

I cut Chi-O & ADPi immediately because the so called "girls" who spoke with me looked like men and scared me. I have many friends in PiPhi, GPhi & Delta and disagree that they only put the "pretty girls" in their tumblers. Everyone at MU knows these houses attract exceptionally beautiful girls. I'm in another so called "top house" (because my Mom was) but find myself always defending these sororities - they are fun, gorgeous, smart and athletic. I'm living in an apartment w/a PiPhi & GPhi next year!

I cut Pi Phi because they seemed "stuffy". I cut Tri Delt because they seemed "prissy" and I cut GPhi because of the overdone makeup and hair SOOOOO many girls seemed to have. I was looking for a house more down to earth and I got it!

both are expensive (have expensive nationals as well as expensive houses to keep up with) so they generally attract the wealthier girls on campus. You wouldn't be able to just obviously tell, but I know a lot of chi os and kappas are legacies of their houses and their mothers dump a lot of money into their old chapters. However, chi o generally attracts a little bit quirkier of girls. Funny, entertaining, smart and competitive. Kappas girls are similar. Generally considered more attractive than chi o and "well rounded." Kappa is a mix of Pi phi, chi o and theta. Chi o is an entity of its own. Basically.
