Not on purpose - Nationals would come down on them very hard. Some girls going through rush mistakenly think they're being "dirty rushed" when a girl tells them "I hope you'll be an XYZ" or "you're my rush crush", instead of "We have a bid waiting for you". or "You're on our bid list". EVERYONE is somewhere on the bid list after pref, don't mix that up with thinking you WILL be an xyz! Sometimes a sorority girl may be a little over zealous and gush over a girl, but the rest of the house aren't feeling it. PNM's sometimes get very confused over what is dirty rushing.

Just because I'm curious, why did it bug you? I get that it's not okay and against the rules and unethical, etc. but did it sort of make you feel special at all? I'm not trying to advocate for it, I just genuinely don't understand what happened/what generally happens with regard to dirty rushing. I was skeptical that it even happened, honestly.

That's technically true. With the flurry of activity after the last party, it would be impossible to fill out all of the bid forms so they often are done in advance. And it also is true that if you were at their last party you likely will appear somewhere on their bid list, whether #1 or #225 or somewhere in between, so the form has to be filled out. So what's the problem with telling you they had your bid already written out? That's probably true for the vast majority of girls who are still a part of rush on the last day. Only a loser would think that means they are a shoe-in.

Several girls in my dorm told me it happened to them (different house), and it happened to me.

What about telling a PNM that they "really want them" on day 1 (from different girls in the same house) and then dropping them later in the week?
