rec letters
by: confusedI've seen so many posts about recommendation letters and each one has girls replying "recs aren't that important" AND "recs are required to pledge some houses because it's a national standard". which one is it? is there anyone who has gotten into a house without a rec letter who can clarify things a little?

At Mizzou, it is not the end all be all if you do not have recommendation letters to a house. Granted, it is more helpful (somewhat of a leg up on the competition)! If a chapter has a National standard that you need a recommendation letter, and they like you enough, they will find an alumni to write one for you!

I can tell you that when we are meeting as a committee, tallying the votes and weighing comments from members to rank the PNMs, we give extra weight to the people with recs. And when we do the final list, if we don't have a rec for someone she often falls to the bottom of the list just because it's a hassle to get a rec. So if you are too lazy to get a rec, that's your choice. But it can work against you.

what if it's not that you're lazy, you just literally don't know anyone who has been in certain sororities?
