wanting to rush sororities

by: incoming freshman

I want to rush this fall at the beginning of my freshman year. I'm kind of worried about being cut because my gpa is a 2.9/3.0 unweighted. However, I took all honors and AP classes. I played 4 sports and volunteer over 100 hours and dedicate my time to my local hospital and friends. Greek life sounds great. Philanthropy and friends. Decent parties. If these reviews are true about how houses base things off of looks, do I even stand a chance? Should I bother rushing?

Are you going to rush being open to all houses? I believe your 3.0 will get you cut from top tier and upper middle tier houses. This is due to the fact that almost 2000 girls will likely go through recruitment and there will be plenty of girls with the whole package. You will have 7 or 8 houses that will look at your resume, personality and looks to make their decision. You might have just what a house is looking for so try rushing!

Go through and see what happens. Your GPA will hurt you before your looks. As long as you are open to all houses, you could find a home with a great resume.

I am what people on here call a bottom tier house(although I dont feel that way about my house nor am I treated that way in Greek Life)and we have a grade cut off as well... A 2.8 is the lowest we will go for A PNM we all love.

You should go through recruitment, if you want to be Greek. Your grades are marginal, but not so bad that you stand zero chance. Know that your cuts are going to be kind of harsh, and just focus on whoever invites you back. Don't fall in love with anyone the first day. Just keep your mind open, enjoy your time with everyone the first day, and then focus on whoever invites you back.

If you can get recommendation letters to each house, which explains all of your good qualities that could be helpful.
