from the south...

by: PNM

Saw the "which sororities are the most southern post" and the description fits me well. I'm not closed minded by any means, those ideas are just how I was raised and what I've come to believe myself. The comments on that post worried me a little though. Mizzou has been my number one and now I feel like maybe it's not the greatest fit. I know things here can get catty, so am I taking that post into too much consideration?

If you aren't willing to give a school a fair chance and base your decision on one post on one tacky website, then I think you are pretty close-minded. I hope that when you get to college you will consider all points of view. If you have cemented your beliefs for the rest of your life based on what you have seen by age 18 while living under your parents' roof, we, that's about as narrow-minded as you can get. An education is far more than what you learn in lectures and books. Going away to school in a different environment than you were raised and learning about people who are very different from you is the epitome of an education. It's up to you whether you want to seize that opportunity or not.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I think what you're thinking of is the more northern/west coast sororities with the hipsterish vibe and dip dyed hair. Between those and the "bless your heart" southern sororities Mizzou is honestly right in the middle. Just kind of moderate. Greeks here dabble in southern brands/traditions, and nobody is really that "northern."
