the truth

by: Absolutely

Lots of women have come on here recently talking about how smart women are in the top houses and how challenging it is to be a Golden Girl and stuff like that. But, really, let's just accept the fact that the majority of sorority girls are just like most college girls. They are here to party, have fun and meet guys. Why does everyone pretend that's not true? Who are you kidding?

I am a junior and I have to say that as a member of a top house, we have very high standards. It's not easy to get a bid. But I have seen honor students turn into drunks and self-confident women become the type of person who will do anything just to get some guy's attention. It's not pretty. I think most sorority women remain a cut above the norm, but some can't handle the freedom and it's just too sad.

What point are you even trying to make by posting this? That you're ignorant? How inane and close minded are you to think that partying and meeting boys are the goals of all women in college? Seriously? It's 2015. I would hope that by now society could realize that, yes, a lot of young women have legitimate career goals, and a variety of interests, and are spending time at a four year institution because (gasp!) they actually want to LEARN. This post is not an insult to sorority women or Golden Girls - it's an insult to ALL women and I pity you. Honestly, I do. Because it's sad and pathetic that a) you feel like this, and b) you would post it publicly to this website and expect anyone with an ounce of sense to agree with you. And you know what? As a member of a Panhellenic chapter, I can say with confidence that I have met some of the most involved, driven, and charismatic girls throughout the Greek community. And I'm saying that in regards to more than just their GPAs (which are also awesome). Grow out of your small, bitter little world before you get out of college. You'll be glad you did.

I'm a guy and I troll this site regularly. I'm in a pretty average fraternity and I have to say that when you get a little alcohol into most girls they will do anything you want them to do. I have seen some really outstanding girls at 10 a.m. become absolutely pathetic by midnight.

You're a freaking creep if you're trying to get girls to do "anything you want them to do" while they're under the influence, can anyone say red dot?

Yeah, I'm sure you know what it's like to get alcohol into "most girls" of the nearly FIFTEEN THOUSAND girls on this campus.

To be fair, it doesn't really sound like he minds it or is doing much to stop it.

I actually am in a relationship that's very respectful and have been for more than a year. I talk with my girlfriend about this all the time. I understand it is 100% wrong for a guy to take advantage of a girl, even though she sometimes is coming on to him. I've never done it and I've tried to stop it from happening. But what I don't understand is why their sorority sisters know the girl is in danger and don't watch out for her and take her home or out of harms way. Sometimes they just leave her sloppy drunk and almost passed out. (I also don't understand why girls would put themselves in that situation, but, hey, I guess I'm in the minority.)

One of the strongest messages pounded into the heads of new members at my house is that you take care of your sisters. Sisterhood comes first. You don't leave her puking on the frat house steps; you don't leave her passed out in a chair; you stop her from going into a room with a guy if she can't even walk straight. What about that do other so called "sisters" not understand. Yes, women should have a little pride and not get into a bad situation, but sisters come first. It's the reverse of "bros before ho's," and it makes sense. A bad experience can ruin your college career.

I'm sorry but this is just inaccurate. Not all sorority girls are just here to party and meet guys. I take my education seriously, thanks. It is college after all you shouldn't be wasting your parents money for four years of partying, some of us "typical sorority girls" are also trying to get jobs and be successful in life.
