the pros and cons of greek life

For a little background, I'm a new member of a sorority (I recently accepted a bid through COB). I'm just curious to know what other people's experiences have been like with Greek life at Mizzou. What was FORMAL recruitment like? What have been your favorite events and which ones were forgettable? What have you learned about your house/sisters that you didn't expect before? What's your favorite part of Greek life, or least favorite part? Do you have a favorite memory?
I hope this topic allows people to talk about their own experiences on here for once. :) That's my goal.

- Formal recruitment is so different from informal. I almost wish I had done informal rather than formal, not because I don't like the chapter I ended up in, but because I've heard the informal process is much more relaxed and genuine. Formal recruitment was hot and exhausting and even the time spent at different chapters was pretty regimented.
- I've loved getting to know the girls in my chapter and just becoming a part of this family. They're even more supportive than I could have imagined.
- Least favorite part is the cattiness in the Greek community. My sorority is always ranked as a "bottom tier" chapter here on Greekrank. I try to not let it get to me, but I just wish the Greek community here was more supportive of each other, it would reflect a lot better on us as a whole.

your comment is on point. formal recruitment was terrible for me and i dropped, so i did informal instead. so much easier. i was annoyed at how so many houses never got back to me! AXO and aphi didn't email me back after i emailed them multiple times about COBing which was freakin rude, but honestly i don't mind since i love my new house. i also hate this whole rank stuff. my house is always ragged on while others are always idolized, but my house has a fantastic sisterhood while a certain top house has a lot of girls that are catty.
