First of all, Missouri is not technically a southern state. The Mason-Dixon line goes right through it and it was neutral during the War Between the States. Yes, it is now part of the SEC and has some fine Southern traditions, but Kansas City is much more a western city than a Southern city and parts of our state identify much more with the Midwest than the South. Having said that, the best houses want the best girls, and you will find a large number of out-of-state girls in the top tier houses. I would warn you simply to stay away from the houses that pride themselves on taking St. Louis private school grads. They are legends only in their own minds.

"Neutral during the war between the states"? Where did YOU learn history? Public school-that's obvious because you took a swipe at all the private school girls.
The repeal of the Missouri Compromise was one of the the main reasons for the Civil War, and there were more Civil War battles or engagements fought in Missouri than in any other state besides Virginia and Tennessee.
In 1861, the year the war started, 45 percent of all battles
and all casualties were in Missouri. More Civil War generals are buried in St. Louis than in Arlington or West Point.
Get your facts straight before posting. This IS college, after all.
And no, it does not matter where you're from OR if you went to a private high school.

Missouri supplied a total of 39 regiments to the Civil War effort: 17 Confederate and 22 Union. if there were more Union regiments, how can you say it is a Southern State? And if there were almost as many Confederate regiments as Union, how can you say it was a northern state? No one is saying there were no battles in Missouri, only that it was neither exclusively northern nor southern.

I think she was saying that because Missouri entered as a slave state and then repealed and then there was so much fighting in Missouri, we weren't neutral, far from it.
Switzerland was neutral in WW2, just prepared to fight, not actually fighting, so I think that's her point. Missouri wasn't neutral.
But, W/E, this is GR not history class, geezz.
Anyone can get into a house with good grades, good involvement in HS and a good personality.
