different houses have different reasons for COBing. some houses have to COB because they can't make quota (sigma), or their new member class lost a ton of girls (sigma, zeta). but then why are houses like KD, phimu, AXO COBing? they're not struggling for members like some chapters.I'm sure phi mu COBs to gain girls to boost their GPA. as for the other two, they COB to boost house total and retention rate percentage so that during fall rush they can be bumped into a higher tier to cut more girls.

I can't explain Gphi's retention rate, they've always been on the lower end but refuse to COB. that's their choice and they're happy with it. no disrespect there.

the reflection of all those things come with the retention factor. If your house is losing 15 girls, there's some external factor like popularity, being social or fun, or even attractiveness, that is holding that house back. Girls drop for a reason, most of the time they drop because they aren't happy where they are.

No one knows why some houses choose to COB certain years and others don't, unless you're in that house - YOU DON'T KNOW. Yes some do it to boost GPA (that could be sigma, zeta, phi mu or axo - any of them). Some do it because they kicked out members they didn't want or lost members due to money or transferring (again that could be any house). Most do it because total keeps rising and they can continue to find great members through the new great members they recruited and really like and they want their friends. So quit separating houses by "reasons for COBing" - It's a load of sh.t and a lie. The fact is MOST houses at one time or another have COB'd for their OWN reasons. Reasons you were not informed about. Every house has over 200 members and we're even adding another chapter next year because all the houses are doing so well and because of all the interest in greek life. So unless you're the COB police - shut up.

please tell me what COBing means. I have narrowed my schools down to 2 and I am a bit confused about all of this conflict in the greek system.

Has anyone else heard that PiPhi can't do Greek week either?

COB=Continuous Open Bidding. It is carried on after formal recruitment (Bid Day)is over. It can go on all year (in the case of some sororities) or only for a few weeks.

on how all the bottom tier chapters got straight one's today except for sigma...looks like the joke is on you. CAUGHT RED HANDED AGAIN. losers. leave the better houses out of your drama.

Or to play the devil's advocate, you (someone from a house irritated or jealous of Sigma) gave a bunch of houses ones and sigma fives to set them up and call them out. Doesn't seem like rocket science. It's done on here all the time. Sigmas haven't been on here much (unless they like to rank their house with all ones all day--everyday, but girls from houses trying to make them look bad are on here all the time. Just a thought from my perspective. Go ahead and go crazy and call me a Sigma, that's typically your next move when you've been called out. And once again you'd be wrong.
