why is mizzou greek life so expensive?

by: curious

i was just wondering if being involved in mizzou greek life is actually worth the financial burden. Also, why is it so expensive compared to other big schools like U of I, Indiana, etc? i don't wanna join one knowing I'm just going to be wasting thousands of dollars for it to not be worth it. any insight would be great-thanks!

It's not about the money, Honey. It's about the experience. If it's not worth it to you, here's a solution: don't rush.

why are you on this website if you don't want to be greek and you are clearly jealous/bitter? you look dumb and you're wasting your own time.

who tf said I'm bitter/jealous and don't wanna be in one? i just wanted to know if your greek experience has been worth it so far since no one in my family has ever been one and my family doesn't have much money but would take out loans for me to be in one if i really wanted too. CHILL OUT

Being in a sorority makes it so much easier to meet to guy and girl friends and also it gives you something to do!! Definitely worth the money...they're not all really expensive and you'll learn the costs and stuff about each sorority during recruitment! Even if you decide you don't want to join one, I still think you should rush and give greek life a chance!

i have friends in both of the greek systems you mentioned and my in-house dues are way cheaper than those of my friends at those schools. mizzou greek life is an experience like no other and it's worth it completely.

It probably depends on the person if it's worth it or not. For me personally it definitely is, but if money is something you think you'd really struggle with it's definitely something to consider. However, if you can afford it I highly suggest going greek- one of the best things you can do for your college experience-both for the fun times and the growing opportunities!

It can be expensive depending on the house

You weigh the $ factor against what you would like out of your college experience. Being greek brings so many positives. You'll meet and make friends with many people who aren't in your major, women who want to make a connection and be part of something special. It has it's ups and downs like any organization, but the benefits can be forever. I'd say, give it a try, see if it's for you. I'd guess that you will regret not giving it a chance.

Could be anywhere from 1,500 to more if you live it house. Each one has a different fee schedule. I'd check with each house.

^^^^ Yes and also keep in mind living in a sorority is cheaper than residence halls at Mizzou...not sure about fraternities though
