recruitment

If you know someone in the sorority during rush, is it okay to casually mention that you know them during the parties, or is that considered a faux pas? I know that the actives discuss who they want to continue seeing after each day but I'm not sure how in-depth PNMs are talked about.

Does it help or hurt to name-drop?

do notttt name drop. lets say you're talking to 1 girl in house A and you say that you know another girl in that house and the girl you're talking to just happens to despise the other girl you're talking about.... definitely hurts your chances of that girl saying good things about you later and or getting asked by.

I would let my resume/rec sheets speak for themselves. The person you know will be aware you are going through rush. If she wants to speak up about you he will.

I wouldn't say anything...after going through work week people will know who you know and who you don't. Only talk about a person if someone says "Oh I room with so and so, etc etc" THEN I would say it's okay to talk about the said person.

At almost EVERY house during recruitment I was asked if I knew anyone in that house. I didn't know anyone in ANY house so it didn't make a difference, but I wouldn't have lied.

I wouldn't name drop because houses here are so big that they may not know the girl you know very well. I'm a junior now and only know a handful of the freshmen. However, if it's pref day or something and a friend of yours being in the house is something that you like about it then you can mention that. Houses always like to know that you are interested in them too
