historically top houses

My mom was greek here in the 80s, and we were talking about current houses and their reputations. She said my description of the sororities was about the same (with a few exceptions) but she said the top fraternities in her day were SAE, Phi Delt, Fiji, Sigma Chi, Pike, and ATO. Anyone heard any differently? So interesting that some of the best houses from her day don't have the same pull on campus.

I asked my Mom the same thing! My parents were both here in the late 70's. Sororities about the same except Chi O was just upper mid and Beta KA ATO Phi Delt SAE and Lambda Chi were the best.

Lambda chi wasn't good at all in the 70s. KA was average

My mom was a Tri Delt in the early 80s and Pops was a Phi Delt. They said the same thing - but said Tri Delt and Kappa were the top, Chi O was moving up and Alpha Phi was the absolute bottom. Most of the frats were good with Beta, ATO, KA and Phi Delt the top. I find old greek history so much fun!

My dad was an SAE and looking at his old fraternity pix, his fraternity brothers were smoking'. My mom says PiPhi and Theta were top sororities and that TriDelt, ChiO, Kappa, DG and ADPi made up the next tier. Oh, and ATOs rocked, too.

Phi Kapps current house is actually the original Acacia house from the early 1900s

My parents tell me that there was a time when Betas were average, Sigma Chis didn't exist because they were kicked off campus and DUs were embarrassingly awful. But Phi Delts, ATOs, SAEs and AgRhos were really strong houses.
