if my older sister is already in house
by: LegacySo if my older sister is an active member in a house, will I get in that sorority..... Assuming I have decent gpa and whatnot?
#3by: yes
#4by: depends
Some women with sisters in a house come into recruitment with either a sense of entitlement to membership, or a complete complacency about membership. Either of those can really be an issue. Especially if the older sister hasn't been a very active member of the chapter and doesn't have people pulling for her.
Don't take anything for granted. Don't think you have a guaranteed bid!!
#5by: well...
Several years ago we were in the same position, except there were 7 sisters of active members going thru rush. Three or four of the sisters would have been likely candidates and would have made it on their own. The others were really not up to our standards. We talk about it extensively and cut them all. It was a tough decision, but the actives understood.

In my house, a sister of an active sister is automatically put to the top of the bid list and never removed unless she can't make the grade cut, even then though she'll be one of our grade exceptions. My house is small nationally though, so legacies are a huge deal for us. Legacy of an active sister? Forget about it. You'd have to call Nationals to cut her.

Not true. I know a delta legacy that was cut immediately from delta. She was in tears at the next party when I was standing next to her and told me what happened.
