by: incoming freshmanI know sororities stalk pnm's social media, does it matter if they're on private? All of my accounts are on private, not because I have anything to hide, but just because I like to keep track of who can view all my stuff. Is this going to be a turn off? Should I take them all off private for rush?

I'm all about instagram and twitter. I leave facebook to my mom and her friends. As for posting pictures of myself and friends, I never do it, and many of my friends don't either. In one of my human resources classes we learned to be very skeptical of job applicants with tons of pictures of partying and drinking on facebook. I don't allow myself to be tagged in those and you shouldn't either. And "private" isn't always so private.

to the people saying "you still use Facebook....." we get it, no one uses FB as much as they used to, but it is still the number one way to get quick info on people, it shows all your pics, statuses, mutual friends (who we will ask about you), etc. A top tier house will search you on google and click on every link on the first 2 pages. that is just how it works.

I think that's the point. Who is the world wants everyone to know about every detail of their lives? The best reserved for real friends. More and more people I know are deactivating their Facebook page. Been there, done that.

I stalk your Wordpress, Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram. A lot of girls put their names on that stuff without realizing they've done it and one quick Google search will lead me right there. It's the quickest, most unfiltered way to see what a PNM is really like. A lot of girls clean up Facebook. Everyone forgets about their Tumblr or Wordpress.

If you are about to go through rush (or about to look for an internship or job), make sure you don't allow yourself to be tagged in other people's photos. We got some of the best dirt on PNMs that way. Their Facebook looked great and then we found all sorts of raunchy stuff posted by their friends. And here's a hint: you may think it's cool to drink in high school, but it's never cool to be a sleazy drunk.

this is totally false... Everyone I know posts so many more pictures to Facebook since being in college. Keep your Facebook, its where most people you meet will immediately add you on.
